I lost the little spring that keeps the basket closed when not brewing. This was cheap enough and works perfectly. It's easy to clean by dumping the grounds and then rinsing the basket promptly after each use. Letting old grounds sit in the basket lets the oils get stuck to the plastic and can produce an odd flavor in the coffee. A clean pot and brewer are key to good coffee. I have had this brewer for 5-6 years and, when kept clean, makes consistently good coffee as long as the water and coffee are measured carefully.
