Solaxx MET01A SafeDip Digital Test Meter for pH, Chlorine, Salt and Temperature Blue

The SafeDip worked as advertised. I ran a test of my pool water and wrote down my values. Inputted the values in the online calculator and right away I knew if I had to add chemical(s) to the pool water. I then took a water sample to my local pool store and had them test the water for me. As it turns out, my SafeDip numbers matched exactly to the expensive store tester. One drawback as when entering the values in the online calculator, the display has a tendency of powering off requiring me to power back on.

The product looks good on paper/Amazon/internet etc. I wanted to give it a try, even with some of the negative reviews, but there were some good reviews too. My review joins the negative reviews for the following reasons, This is an expensive product so my expectations were high for quality and durability. Unfortunately out of the package, I immediatley noticed low quality pastic on the outside case of the meter and the water holder. When I took off the water holder to expose the sensors to conduct the suggested probe(s) water soaking for 24 hours, I noticed the water holder was craked in four places around the lip. The water holder is made of very thin plastic. Great concept for a tester, but it fails the quality and durablity test. Sending the unit in for a refund.

Im writing this review because I believe this product has a lot of biased reviews which might set people like me that were weary of buying. First of all it works great is accurate for pH and chlorine with little to or no error. You just need to make sure that you fallow the instruction as requested. IE: soak the probe in 8oz of water for 24hrs before use, calibrate the probe with the solution provides as instructed, and wash the probe before and after use. We have test strips and a water chemistry kit and used to compare results and more often the reader was equally if not more accurate then both. I believe that this product has had negative reviews due to misuse. We have tested our water, aquarium, and spa without a problem. Only thing is have some test strips on had to ensure accuracy if calibration starts falling off just to be sure. I know this sounds counter productive so what we did was keep the priming solution premixed in a sealable jar as we just recalibrate once every other week of consistent use and everything is fine. Its not a cheap tester but in the long run will save you quite a bit. Hope this helps

Hi and Low readings aren't the best measure but its pretty effective otherwise. The online calculator could be a lot more useful in terms of what needs to be added to balance a pool also.

Hesitated because so many bad reviews but suspected folks were unhappy who expected it to be like a test strip. It’s not. It’s got to be calibrated and kept moist. Lots of blogs online for laboratory technicians make clear what it takes to get good readings from these electronic sensors. I’m finding my readings are consistently better than the pool store and the pool guy I pay to do this stuff. Not cheap and also requires you to pay attention to the directions and routinely calibrate. But if you are willing to pay and do your part, it’s an excellent piece of equipment.

If you have a salt water pool, purchase this tester and save yourself sending back the others. It is easy to test with and it reads accurately. The only thing I am a little displeased with is the screen is not quite easy to read. I hope the company goes back to their blue screen.

After carefully calibrating upon receiving, my first reading showed Low Cl. That never changed. The pool shop and my salt generator showed the recommended 3200, but the meter steadfastly held to "Low CL". A Solaxx technician told me to disregard that reading. Oookay. The TDS reading was 4200, way above the recommended 1400. Come to find out I have to subtract the salt reading from the TDS reading to get the true TDS reading. ???????!! Next up, the ORP reading. This was around 620. I totally cleaned and vacuumed my pool, cleaned the skimmer baskets and the filter basket, and backwashed. The lower organics should raise the ORP. The meter showed the ORP had plummeted to 120. This meter does nothing close to what it claims in advertisement. It's a total waste of time and money. If it worked as it should, it would be ideal. As it is, RUN!

Product is defective shows wrong reading on the chlorine levels wound up poisoning my family and had burns on our bodies kept saying add chlorine and we didn’t need to add any chlorine. used an old style liquid kit show it was more then five times the limit The liquid sample turned orange on the very first drop, would like to return the product

This product is great and easy to use but the accuracy is questionable. After a PH calibration it read 7.0 and the chemistry check I had done by the local pool company showed 7.6. The salt is fairly close but the ORP and chlorine values are way out. This is not worth the money! There are no values for the chlorine and when it shows low you would assume to add more but this didn’t change the value. My pool is now high in chlorine but it said low still on the device!

Nice meter and easy to use. Just be sure that you calibrate it for pH at 21c water temperature. Appareil facile à utiliser. Assurez-vous simplement de calibrer le pH avec de l'eau à 21c.
