You do have to get fairly close to be in focus, so I have to lean over the counter a bit, but that may be because I have to wear reading glasses these days. When I get to the right place, it has the perfect clarity for applying makeup. I wouldn't want anything with more magnification, as 7 is plenty large to see easily. It's easy to mount and unmount (for cleaning), and it would be easy to take elsewhere. It's sturdy, so the quality is fine. The suction cups work very easily on a mirror.
