Not my personal favorite but itโs solid
Everyone who swings a hammer has personal preferences and typically we go through a bunch of different styles before deciding what we like. Then you have to keep trying new ones just in case something happens to feel better in your hands. I donโt see anything wrong with the hammer, it works well. This is the first hammer with a hatchet style handle that I have owned. I know that plenty of people like them but it just doesnโt feel right in my hands. Besides that it drives nails well and I donโt have any complaints.

Great hammer and even better for the price!!
The nail set it a huge improvement from the last model and for any carpenters wondering it will set 16 Duplex nails perfectly. The rubber handle left me wondering until I used it and it is way better than expected.

The hammer just snapped after dropping it once
I really liked the hammer when I first bought it but I do construction full time and I dropped it off a ladder about 2 weeks after getting it and it hit the ground and snapped the handle

A Specialized Tool
Fatherโs day is on the horizon and tools are a go-to Dad gift. This Framing hammer from OX Tools has an attractive and a sturdy design which might put it on the radar of potential gift givers - but keep in mind that this is a specialized tool. For those less-familiar with hammers, I thought Iโd point out what makes this Framing hammer different from a more general-purpose hammer like what a DIYer might have in the home toolbox. In the comparison photos, you can see that this Framer has a significantly longer handle, a larger diameter striking face, and significantly less-curvature in the claw vs. the โDIYโ hammer. This Framer is also fairly heavy at 33oz (2.1lbs) total weight, as compared to the DIY hammer at just 27oz (1.7lbs). Note that the โ20 ozโ label on the OX Tool hammer is referring to the weight of its steel head. A Framing hammer needs extra mass and length to efficiently drive 16-penny nails (aka 16D 3-1/4โ), which are what you use to assemble 2x4 framing. The DIY hammer on the other hand is more of a jack-of-all trades and is typically used with smaller fasteners, from finishing nails that mount picture frames on the wall to 2โlong 8D nails that hold pickets onto the backyard fence. Excess length and weight when you donโt need it just makes your arm tired. Another interesting feature of this Framing hammer is the magnetic nail holder, which is most helpful when you are driving those big framing nails all day long. This holder is designed for starting 16-penny nails; the nails are โloadedโ as shown in the photos, with the nail top snugged-up to the hammer head and a little over half of the nail length extending beyond the striking face. This holder design allows you to securely land a nail and drive it halfway in with just a single swing. For reference, I also took a photo of a standard 1-1/4โ roofing nail set in the holder; roofing nails are way too short to be used safely in this magnetic holder. Overall, this Framing hammer from OX Tools seems to be a very good product. If your Dad is going to be doing a major remodeling project or building an addition onto the back of the house, this is a nice tool that could make his work easier.

A fairly deluxe hammer, and it looks nice
For starters, this is a BIG hammer compared to the variety of old claw hammers I own. It's about twice as heavy and a third longer. I'm not a framing carpenter, just a guy who does some projects around home. But this is now my "I mean business" hammer. It's my first hammer with the milled head. Every time I look at it I think of a meat tenderizer. It's also my first hammer with the magnet to help you start nails. Look at the video to see it holding 2.5 and 3.5 inch nails. I'm beyond impressed at the strength of the magnet. No amount of shaking would get the nail to fall off. I'm also quite impressed with the rubber grip built into the wood handle. They machined the hickory wood down a bit and must have pressure molded the rubber around the handle. I've played around a bit with it since the video review. It does the job well. With a medium swing you can get a nail started and drive it home in another swing or two. The blue detailing is a nice touch too. It's my fancy hammer now.

Nice hammer. 5โญ๏ธ
Arrived perfectly. It's a nice hammer. Looks well crafted, I have a few hammers from OX tools. ๐ It's size is good. Hickory handle looks perfect. My other OX hammers have lasted me to this day. No issues. So Durability is good. For the price I have paid for all 3 hammers from OX, it is still cheaper then my one Stiletto. My main reason for purchase, is the new handle grip, I was interested to see wht it's like to use at work. Out of the package it's very comfortable to hold & swing, feels good in hand. I'm on holidays, so on site testing will have to wait for another week or so. But I predict it will be like the others I own. Well worth the money I paid for it. ๐ OX hammers & there toolbelt rigs are well crafted, I own a few of each. Toolbelts can take a beating. Excellent quality and craftsmanship. Hammers same excellent quality and craftsmanship. 5โญ๏ธ Only negative I have is it's a Lil on the heavy side for a 20oz hammer. It's also double the size of an Estwing 20oz hammers. There 18oz hammer is a better choice for a liter hammer. I'm happy with my purchase. Money well spent. One reviewer mentioned about how nice it looks. He's right about how nice looking it is. The first day I use it at work, I'm gonna feel bad for running it's good looks. Lol.

Good hammer for the price
Very good hammer, good grip and balance. Just know that in dry weather, the hickory handle will shrink and be loose in the head. I just soak the head in warm water overnight 1-2 times a year and it tightens back up. Work in construction so it gets used everyday and has held up so far.

Pretty huge
Solid hammer, works especially well for it's intended purpose but the handle is ginormous, takes a bit of getting used too
