Foldable Hyperextension Roman Chair 250LBS Capacity for Home Gym

We have a small gym in our basement and this is the one important piece of gym equipment that was missing. I have a curvature in my spine and I have a weak core, it makes it hard to sleep at night because my back needs a strong core to not hurt in bed. I used to use this all the time when we had a gym membership, so I looked at many options when purchasing my own for home. The hyperextension roman chair is excellent for building core strength and the muscles in the back that are atrophied due to curvature. This particular chair I chose because of the durability and size, I am tall so I needed one that would accommodate a person of height. Sturdy, easy to put together, comfortable pads in just the right places and works well for someone who is tall. As it is exactly what I was looking for and I am very pleased with this purchase. Hopefully the whole family will get use out of it, but I know for sure that I will. Good product.

Update: 5* for customer service. The unit had one of the two sliding pins defective ( the ball&spring popped out). The responded immediately to my message through Amazon. They send me 2 smaller one and 1 larger one as replacement and for future. Very nice touch to get "customer for life" :-) I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality . It has very good finish. As stable as roman chair in a gym. I am 5'8 and 180lb male. The desing is great for stability and adjustment. FOlds flat for easy storage. Nice addtion to my home gym.

Definitely a level below gym quality - although it is well made. But for home use I don't see any reason this would not be sufficient. And there is weight benefit of not being gym quality in that this is relatively easy to move. It comes extremely well packaged - the individual pieces are packaged in plastic sheeting and cardboard, with the tools (cheap, but they work) you need to put it together. The reason I gave it four stars is the instructions to put it together; just found it easier to "wing it" viewing a picture of it assembled.

Before ordering, make sure you're under the weight/height recommendation for the equipment! The description says the maximum weight capacity is 250 lbs, and the recommended height is under 6ft. You should look for heavier-duty equipment if you don't meet those requirements. This one was perfect for my household because we met those requirements and wanted something that wouldn't take up much room. It's also easily foldable, which is a plus if you're in a small space and want to store it. When you purchase anything you have to build, always check to make sure you have all the parts first! There are 3 tools and 15 primary parts. The 3 tools include 2 open-ended wrenches and an Allen/hex key. I included a photo showing everything for an easy way to check that you have all the parts before building! Around the blue (poorly drawn circles), 8 additional bolts, 12 washers, and 4 nuts were pre-attached to the parts; they aren't listed separately in the parts list, so make sure you have them! The manufacturer was smart by pre-attaching most bolts, nuts, and washers. It helps you install the correct bolt in the proper place; it also helps during shipping. Bolts are small and the most common thing to go missing if the packaging gets damaged. I've had a lot of heavy gym equipment shipped (sorry, delivery guy and gals :-)). After checking to make sure I had all the parts, it only took about 20 minutes to build. And It's been used every day since!

For the money and small footprint, this is all you need. I’m 6’2” and 205 lbs, and this is rock solid and takes up minimal space in my garage gym so I can have leg machines, a smith rack/cable machine, lat pull down, preacher bench, calf machine, seated row machine, etc.

It wobbles a bit because you get what you pay for. However, with that being said, it does for you; exactly what it should do - strength your lower back if used properly. Stable enough to feel safe. Height and fit are good unless you’re really short or extremely tall. If you don’t need to be fancy then it’s a great value for the money.

This is very quick to setup. I am 5'11" 160LBS and have no issues using this. There are some reviews that said weight and height are limited and i can see that but i think if youre under 6 ft and 200LBS this should do fine. It is easy to adjust and the padding for rollers is thick enough to support my weight. We dont have to move ours around our gym so dont have the same complaint as some people with having to move it around. happy with the purchase price

This is the only back extension bench I could find that was both foldable and had proper footrests. It’s stable for me at 5ft-8in (173cm). If I was taller, I think it might tip forward at full extension. If I was shorter, I think I might hit my head on the front brace when hanging fully — I kind of do now. So not the perfect design for everyone, but it meets my needs great. I’m very mechanically inclined, and I found the assembly a tad difficult. It’s easy to accidentally attach some pieces the wrong way. The square tube that holds the big pads was really difficult to insert past the plastic bushing, but the ultra tight fit may be necessary to avoid jiggling. Use a rubber mallet to bang it in. My biggest complaint is that the threaded inserts on one of the pads were slightly misaligned. It too me 20 tries to get the bolts threaded. I think most people would have just forced it and stripped the threads.

I’m really happy with this! Glad I didn’t go with something more expensive, as this was easy to install and adjust for my height. I like that it folds, although I leave mine set up.

I don’t like it. There isn’t enough space for the feet, and it’s painful to use for my legs.

Not big and sturdy enough. The assembly instructions are quite straightforward. If you’re on the taller and heavier sides, you’ll need a bigger one

Its probably not as stable as a non-folding style, but I did not feel unstable using it. I like the fold up feature of the unit. The diagrams in the instruction booklet leave a bit to be desired, but I found it easier than my last Ikea assembly.

It’s the perfect size. It’s expandable, compact it can fold up if you need to put it under your bed, but with ours, we keep it outside underneath our covered patio where the rest of our white equipment is.
