ASUS RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Router - x2 10G Ports, Up to 7.2 Gbps, Mesh Compatible

Good router. I switched from an AC86u to this one. I've been using Asus for over 10 years and I find it practical, stable, and easy to use. I don't want to set up a professional network at home. I usually see a lot of people online recommending migrating everything to a network with Ubiquiti + access point + switch, etc., or an old PC to install pfSense and more. I just want a functional all-in-one and that's it. Separately, I wanted to add a Radxa SBC Q6a to use Armbian and Docker, Portainer, AdGuard, Unbound, Tailscale, and whatever else I want. And everything is working well. Is it an expensive router? Yes, but it has 10 Ethernet ports, VLAN, strong Wi-Fi signal, fast processor, 2GB of RAM, and will receive updates for a long time. I had some problems configuring my network and accessories in the first 20 days of testing, but now it's rock solid with Merlin firmware. I recommend it to anyone who can afford it, and I recommend it for a wired network. Greetings from Brazil, thanks to Amazon US for the import.

Amazon Rview: Read through to get to the Asus RT-BE88U.... This review will most likely not get posted. I purchased the Netgear RS700S as "refurbished," which generally means that it was returned and some how repaired (or at least double check to make sure it is working per manufacturer specs). It was not. Router would continuously drop signal. So it appears that Amazon just repackaged it and sold it, as is. Router Review: 1. Administrator menu is very limited on what you can do. 2. When accessing the router's admin menu, it times you out after about 15-20 seconds while your trying to read the documentation for settings. You must re-sign in EVERY SINGLE TIME! 3. You can NOT change the admin user name. You must use "admin." Without the ability to change the admin name Netgear reduced your router access security by 50%. 4. In order to gain access to the needed security for the router, you MUST pay an annual subscription!! 5. Netgear customer service people are rude to you if you turn down the subscription sales pitch, and then reqest to get I.T. support on an issue. They actually hung up on me. At first I thought the over-seas phone line dropped. However, when I called back 2 or 3 times, they would not even answer the phone. CONCLUSION: I returned the RS700S for a full refund and bought an ASUS RT-BE88U router. Everything mentioned above is NOT an issue. Their admin user name can be changes, you have a huge amount of control within the admin menu (including how long you wish the menu to time-out.) NO annual subscription fees. Signals on 2.4, 5, and 6G are very solid. I have 15 devices and not one of them has ever dropped a signal. Also, reboot times are much fast than Netgear's. Great router, security, menu interface, and performance! Customer service wasn't needed because this router just WORKS!!

This is solid router. It performs well - has solid connections to all of my devices, provides 900+ Mbps Up and Down, provides exceptional bandwidth, and manages traffic on 30+ devices. This router replaces the ASUS RT-3100AC which never had a single issue. Router is set up in a 3,100 square foot, 2 story home on a 1/2 acre. So I have Smart Outdoor Plugs to manage lighting, pest controllers and a water fountain. And this router has the range to connect it all. My previous ASUS 3100 almost provided full coverage but i would lose connections on the outer edges. So I added an extender and that worked for 10+ years. This ASUS RT BE88U provides full coverage without the additional extender. It has Ai Mesh capabilities so if I needed to push my range further deep over the 1/2 acre lot. I bought this particular router because #1 ASUS makes great routers, #2 this router will cover 3000 sq ft, and #3 all the performance hardwired ports.... I am using 4 of the wired ports now and there are 4 more for future proofing. Plus there are two 10Gb ports - one for the input WAN, and one for maybe a future NAS. This router has most everything one would need. It is not a gaming specific router, but it is a high performance all purpose router. The one thing it does NOT have is the 6GHz band. I was on the fence about even having the 6GHz because sometimes all the bugs aren't out of managing that third band. And 2.4GHz and 5GHz exceed my performance needs without any hassles of the 6GHz band. And even though it does not have the third band, it has ALL the other performance tech that comes with WiFi7. I am very happy with this router. Would definitely buy again.

I've now had this for several months - it replaced a TP-Link WiFi 7 router that was giving me nothing but trouble. TP-Link replaced it, but I decided to try something else and bought this Asus router. It's the one I should have bought in the first place - not only does it work better and more reliably, but it has many more features accessible from the user interface (and without requiring a paid subscription!) I especially like the 10g and 2.5g ports (I have 1g service, but I have 2.5g capable devices in the house) and there are more ports than the TP-Link had. Speed is top-notch, I get the full 1g speed. Signal through my house is excellent, though as I did with the TP-Link, I needed an extender to reach my garage, so I got the Asus mesh extender and it works perfectly. I am very happy.

I purchased this router being fully aware that even though it is WiFi 7, it has no 6ghz band. I have 37 clients on my network and only two of them can use the 6ghz band. I also found that with WiFi 7 enabled, my WiiM Home app could no longer find its devices… so I turned off WiFi 7. This router replaced my old six year old RT-AX88U which was working great until the day I unplugged it. The BE88U is a substantial upgrade of the AX88U. The AX88U has 1GB ram, 1.8GHz Quad-Core CPU, a 1x Gigabit WAN port, and 8x Gigabit LAN ports. The BE88U has 2GB ram, 2.4GHz Quad-Core CPU, 2x 10G WAN ports, 4x 2.5G LAN, 4x Gigabit LAN ports. The BE88U is fully compatible with Asus-Merlin firmware version 3006.*.*. The Asus-Merlin firmware has the AMTM script manager built in, which means you can easily install Diversion, Skynet, and other useful scripts for tailoring your internet experience. If the last sentence made no sense to you, that is OK. The BE88U can still be a great router for you, but you will not be utilizing its full potential.

I was (maybe still am) a diehard ASUS guy, might have to consider other options after this though. The router worked great for about 2 weeks then it lost internet connectivity, after rebooting it once or twice I was able to get it running again. Fast forward 2 more weeks & my internet was crawling slower than dial up! I did a speed test & was amazed at the result. Tried rebooting the router several times (6 or 7) & it would not connect to the internet at all. I have an old RT-AX85U router that this replaced because I needed more ports. I hooked it back up & it took right off. I guess I'll just use my old reliable 4 port AX86U with a switch & the BE88U is getting returned. Attached are my speed test screenshots. The 1st is the BE88U & the 2nd the AX86U. I hope that this was just a bad router & not that ASUS's quality is going down. For the price of this router I expected much more that what was delivered. One other thing to note is that the ports on the back seem sort of close together. If you have an ethernet cable that has a little more covering on the end, it is really tight.

I always like Asus products for their reliability and build quality. Easy setup and great mobile app, worked better before the most recent firmware update, and it now has some periodic low signal/connectivity issues which were not there before. This is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I would probably buy it again.

TL; DR: After a couple days of service we're happy with this router's ease of installation/setup & performance so far. Details: This was purchased as our old router (a 2018 ASUS GT-AC5300) was starting to lock up/fail randomly, and more computers in our house have 2.5G network ports, so the old one was becoming a bottleneck. Physical installation was simple, unplug/replug the ethernet cables from the old one into the new, the WAN port and 2.5G/1G ports are clearly labeled. We did take an extra few seconds to make sure the right ports were used for 2.5G-capable devices vs our media center setup on a 1G router (while it wouldn't affect function, no reason to waste the port until/unless we get a 2.5G capable switch in there). Depending on your ISP's top speed, you can configure this router to use a slower 2.5G port as the connection, and free up the 10G for use with a fast switch inside your home. The option's presented during initial setup, and not hard to find on the WAN page if you switch your network config/ISP service. Getting the router software configured was easily the hardest part, and it wasn't hard, but there were some surprises - things that may or may not make a difference for you, as we're a tech-heavy household. The default subnet for the router was 192.168.50.xxx, which caused some issues with our devices as they were in 192.168.1.xxx on the old system - I had to reboot one of the hardwired computers to get assigned a new IP, and find and configure the new router, Windows release/renew wasn't cutting it for some reason. Once that was done, we were able to change the subnet, configure the router for our ISP, and get online again within ~5 minutes. Windows 11 on our laptops saw the new Wifi name & noted that the new connection was more secure (supports WPA3 over WPA2, so that's nice). If you're an ASUS router user currently, you'll probably find the interface very familiar, they haven't changed the configuration UI significantly from the AC5300 I mentioned above. We host a couple of web services inside the house for external use, and configuring them into the new router was virtually identical to the last time the changes were made on the old one. One issue we've had with ASUS routers still holds true, their DDNS doesn't allow you to easily put your new router in and update to the old DDNS name, it's marked as reserved for a month, so we had to take a new one. We do appreciate the graphic portmap in the UI, showing exactly which ports are in use, if there were a hardware issue this would make it obvious if we had a system fail to connect. While we haven't seen a big difference speed-wise, we also haven't replaced all the switches in our home with ones that would support the faster connection, so we weren't expecting to see the full benefit yet - but we can at least say it isn't worse.

Excelente, si buscas dividir por seguridad tu red es bastante bueno. Puedes crear redes wifi, tiene bastantes puertos para la red cableada y en gaming trabaja bien la Qos adaptativa, para asignarte mas ancho de banda, eso si necesitas tener conocimientos en redes, para sacarle todo el provecho

Best router on the market for a home lab. This is has a ton of features but I love it for having VLAN capabilities. It is a pricey unit but I couldn't be happier overall with this purchase

Upgraded from AC-2900 asus router. Definitely an upgrade. Sfp+ port main reason I bought it. Honestly not a big change of interface. Easy setup on the app. The DDNS is accessible on app to use asus free service for it. Favorite thing to tinker about with it and learn what features it's capable of doing. Impressed is all I can say! Mostly hardlined never tested it through wifi but my phone feels the wifi 7 and runs alot smoother over YouTube and streaming in general. Feel more in control over its security. Overall less need to log into the router itself to do much changes. Can't complain.

Big upgrade from my AC. 86u. No issues with the old router but I wanted to have a faster Wi-Fi antenna since all the phones and laptops have at least Wi-Fi. 6 in them. I was also able to remove an 8-port switch by buying this unit. The 8-port switch on the back of this router is great. There's even a cable testing mechanism that can tell you if you are using faulty cables. Overall, extremely happy with this even though it was on the pricier side just to get Wi-Fi 7
