I have several area rugs that have no anti-slip backing. My home has wood floors. Subsequently that necessitates utilizing these non-slip pads beneath them. This pad functions flawlessly.It is not as heavy gauge as I would prefer, however, its level of durability will be discovered in time.

We have LVP flooring (luxury vinyl planks). Because of this, we have to be very careful in what area rugs we use. LVP flooring can have a chemical reaction with many area rugs because of their rubber (includes synthetic) nonskid backing. This could ruin your LVP floor by discoloring sections of it at the very least. I am not particularly interested in spending thousands on LVP floor repair.Therefore we buy area rugs without a non skid backing made of materials compatible with LVP floors. Guess what, these area rugs slide around on the LVP floor very easily - which we expected.Note: The recommendations for what a LVP floor is and is not compatible with vary, depending on the source. All sources said rubber and rubber compounds are bad for LVP flooring but other materials were mentioned as bad by some, but not all, sources. So we avoid any non skid backing just to be on the safe side.Then we buy a rug pad like this one that is compatible with LVP flooring.You will have to reposition the area rug ever so often but this rug pad cuts down the area rug movement greatly and most importantly greatly minimizes the possibility that the area rug will move too much when you step on it and cause you to stumble or fall.A small investment to protect you against injuries from falls on area rugs.

This rug pad from Superior Rio is awesome! We have hardwood floors and cats. The cats love to run and slide the rugs all over the floor. Sorry kitties - due to this rug pad there is no more rug surfing going on. The pad is easy to cut if you need to resize. It is thicker than I expected and adds a bit of plushness to the rug when placed underneath.

This reversible rug pad keeps area rugs from slipping. Tiny pillow shaped gripper cushion squares on both sides help hold rugs in place. I ordered it for a hallway area rug runner and it was too wide, so I needed to cut it, and at 10 ft in length, had a piece left to put under a bath mat. Read the dimensions carefully, it fits a 2.5 x 10 inch rug, but the pad itself is smaller at 27.5 inches wide x 112 inches long.
