This is an absolutely fantastic chess board. The ease of being able to just roll it up and take it anywhere has never been better with any other chess board. The size is perfect, a full size chess board that rolls up to about the size of an insulated water bottle. The board and pieces feel very durable and should hold up well. The weight is very manageable and can even be played by holding the board with your hands. While a bit pricey, I do feel the value is there since you are able to pause your game and take it with you anywhere to resume your game.

This board is great! I did buy the felt stickers for the bottom so the board doesn’t scratch with use. Several other reviews recommended this. The magnetic strength is still solid even with the felt stickers on the bottom of the chess pieces. I really like the size of this larger version, as I think the smaller one would have been too small. I also like that the pieces actually look like chess pieces. I have a bunch of littles running around our house, bumping into tables and such, so it’s really useful to have chess pieces that stay where they are put even when bumped, and can even be rolled up and put away for later if needed! The board is very foundational, and worth the money if you enjoy chess in more mobile and/or chaotic situations.

I randomly came across the Ventureboard portable chess set while scrolling through various social media sites. As I have always been a fan of chess and love to play it, finding a portable chess board has always been on my list as most "portable" ones tend to be stiff rigid boards that are hard to pack with loose pieces. So I figured I would take a gamble on this set as you never know with what you see and find on the internet and I am glad that I did! This set is really amazing and lives up to my expectations and needs! It is easy to just roll the entire board up, even mid game, and not have a piece fall off or move once packed up. It literally takes seconds to just wrap the board up onto itself and you are set to go. I am also glad I went with the XL version, as I have big hands and moving these larger pieces is a lot easier to do then the smaller board. Plus the XL version pieces actually look like chess pieces and not general little pieces with a logo on them. Once rolled up, the XL board is about the size of a Yeti water bottle, so about 11 inches tall and 4 inches wide which means it is easy to throw into a backpack or piece of luggage. Overall, I would say this is a must buy for anyone who is a chess fan and needs a quick and easy board to take with them on the go. I showed the XL board off at my job and already have a few people wanting to pick up one for themselves.

I own two smaller boards and the XL. The smaller boards come with a nice travel bag. Would be nice if the XL came with or had an option to order a travel bag for it. I keep it in the cardboard box it came in. Other than that the boards are great.

Nice travel chess board. Only complaint is the paint on the board gets scratched.

I love these. I have both the large and small ones. Their piece shapes are very distinguishable. Excellent practical artist. And, yes, the game pieces do stay in position when closed.

Board clasp magnet popped out the third time I unrolled the board, and I wasn’t being rough with it. This is a significant build quality issue on an otherwise great idea, loose tiny magnets are a health hazard.

Absolutely love the VentureBoard — it's become my go-to travel companion! The build quality is outstanding: solid, durable, and clearly made to last through all kinds of adventures. Whether I’m tossing it in a backpack or pulling it out for a quick game at a campsite or airport, it holds up beautifully. Everything from the pieces to the board itself feels thoughtfully designed and high-end, which is honestly surprising at this price point. Had a blast taking it with to music festival and just cracking it open on while dancing and people playing a game with me in all the chaos and the pieces not moving. Will probably get the small version to for hikes

El ajedrez está muy padre. De tamaño ideal para tenerlo en casa. Viene en un empaque cilíndrico y trae un par de reinas extras. Le faltó una bolsita para poner las piezas al terminar de jugar pero como estás se adhieren perfectamente el tablero simplemente se enrolla y listo.
