This is a good scale to use, both in and out of the kitchen. I've used it to weigh individual pieces of wrapped candy that was going into bags. And what I like is that I was able to use the tare feature to first weigh the outer bag the candy was going into, then weight just the candy so that it gave me just the candy weight and not the total weight of candy with bag. If you haven't guessed, I didn't want a combined weight -- I only wanted to actual weight of the candy. That's because I was pricing a bag of candy by weight but did NOT want the weight of the bag included. I've also used this to weigh pieces of mail when I thought I may need extra postage. I've wanted this type of scale for a long time and am glad I now have one since it often comes in quite handy.

This is a very versatile kitchen scale. As you would expect, it accurately measures weight. It records the weight in one of four units (grams, kilograms, pounds, and ounces). It utilizes two 'AAA' batteries (included).But that's not all it will do. As with most digital scales, it has a digital display and a 'TARE' function that resets the weight to zero even if there is weight on the scale (like a bowl or storage container). This allows you to measure ingredients without including the weight of the container you are using. That's where the similarities end.This scale has a pull-out display assembly (extends out 2-1/2"). This allows larger containers to be measured when the display is extended. It also gives access to the scale's controls when measuring large containers.This scale has a 'HOLD' function that locks the measurement so the scale does not return to zero when the weight is removed. A second press of the 'HOLD' button returns the scale to normal operation. I'm not sure what you would use this for, but you might come up with a solution.There is a 'PCS' function. This counts items placed on the scale by sensing the change in weight. You set a target by pressing the 'UNIT' button (in increments of 25). It shows 'PASS' on the display when the target number is reached. After counting, pressing the 'UNIT' button will return the scale to normal operation.This scale has a user configurable Auto Shut Off in 30/60/120/600, etc. seconds.You can control the display backlight to light automatically, be constantly on (as long as the scale is powered on), or is always off.This scale has a baker's percentage weighting function. I've never seen this before. It allows you to scale a recipe up or down. You start by measuring the flour (or principal ingredient). You lock in the flour's weight (as 100%). The scale then uses that number to measure the follow-on ingredients as percentages of the flour.You can calibrate the scale. In order to accomplish calibration, you need weights that have been certified to be of a specific weight. In calibration you select a weight on the scale, put a weight of the corresponding value on the scale and 'PASS' will appear in the display. The scale will return to zero and can be operated normally.The scale has a small circle at the left side of the display that appears when the scale has settled on a weight (it is out while the measurement is being taken).I detected no visual or operational defects in manufacturing.

I weigh each meal and have used several scales over the years. My overall impression of this scale is that it seems cheap but has many features.This looks and feels cheaply made. It is light and made of plastic that doesn't seem very durable. But so far, it has held up. And it has more features than I will ever use.Initially, I was disappointed by it's auto-shut-off time. It turned itself off after just 30 seconds. Then I found that it can be adjusted up to 10 minutes! This is important if you're weight and prepping food at the same time.The scale is accurate and precise. It measures in smaller increments than some other scales I use. It gets the job done.

UPDATE- I contacted the company through their email and then through the amazon page. They are sending me a new one. I appreciate their customer service, so I'm changing my review rating. After I try out the new scale, I'll review again!UPDATE #2- Just got my new scale in the mail. This one does not work either. Am I doing something wrong? I put the batteries in, it turned on, I set something on the scale, not reading the weight change. Is there a step I'm not doing? I can't believe I got two faulty scales back-to-back!Just got my scale today. Opened it up, installed batteries, it turned on. I placed an item on the scale. Did not register any change. I kept adding weight, even pressing down on the scale. Didn't change anything. I just sent a message to customer service. We'll see if they respond. What a bust.

I needed a food scale because I track and log my calorie intake. This one is easy to use,and appears accurate. You can switch to different units of measure which is a great feature. Nice little scale!

Easy to use, accurate scale for kitchen use. Allows you to easily select different weight units. Terrific design as well.

I got this because I've been doing weight watchers and wanted to start measuring the weight of my food (as opposed to "pieces" or whatever). It's pretty cool. It's easy to use and pretty intuitive. You can measure grams, ounces, kilograms and pounds. It's small and and easy to store. I like it. I wish it would like, save your units used because otherwise you have to scroll through to get to ounces, for example. But it's nice, I like it.

Short, Sweet, and Simple Review. This item is exactly what I have been looking for. I like how easy it is to change, units on this, tare, and I like how the display can pull out. It's a great digital scale and feels like it should hold its calibration for quite some time. The price for this is well within reason as a product like this normally would be rather expensive. I highly recommend this scale.
