Amazing gadget that works to save water.

This device has been a Godsend! I was so frustrated with the amount of water my teenage son wasted; he would turn on the shower then get distracted on his phone while the shower ran for 10-15 minutes before he finally got in the shower. I decided to give this a try, and it's amazing! He still gets distracted, but now the water flow drops to just drips, saving a ton of water. When he's ready to shower, he just pulls the cord to release the flow. Now I don't have to yell at him to hurry up. I'm so thankful for it!

Worked great til it just stopped working

I had my doubts, but this little gadget works like I charm. Once the water warms, the unit turns off the water, and a tug on the cord starts it up. It then runs with no problem until you turn off the water at which time the unit resets itself, ready for the next time. That would get it five stars. I had to take one off for a couple of issues. As for the first, the instructions say to install the unit with the little handle horizontal on the side facing your shower door. I tried and tried, but couldn't do it. To get a tight, leak free fit, I ended up with the handle vertical at the top of the shower pipe. It works, but the cord would be situated better in the position they suggest. The other issue, is the pull cord itself. In the illustration on the product page, you see what looks like a cord or thin chain encased in plastic. In fact the pull cord is in three segments. As you can see in the picture, the middle segment is indeed encased in plastic, but the top and bottom segments are just bare threads, about the thickness of those used for sewing. This doesn't seem durable. Either the cord needs to be in plastic all the way or, better, the manufacturer should use a chain like they have on lamps. This is not fatal as you don't need the cord to turn the handle, but it is more convenient.

Brushed nickel is made out of metal. The chrome is plastic and breaks easily if you over tighten it. Stay away from chrome and go with the brushed nickel.
