It was the actual 10th edition codex
It was exactly what it was supposed to be and came in, in good shape. Would recommend that they use better packaging as the book could be easily damaged

Beautiful book
Great lore and beautiful pictures. I played a decade ago, and convinced a friend to get back in. Used to play Necrons, giving these guys a go. Book arrived slightly bent in a corner. Steep price to pay, but that's 40K

I recently got my hands on the latest Adeptus Custodes codex (V.10) and, having used it on the tabletop, here are my thoughts from experience and perspective. What I like: The lore and artwork are superb. The golden warriors of the Emperor never looked better, and this volume gives plenty of inspiration for both painting and narrative. The updated army rule (Martial Ka’tah) is a notable improvement: whereas before you locked in a stance for the entire force, now units pick per fight phase, which adds more tactical flexibility. The format of the book is well organised: background, detachments, unit rules and stratagems are clearly separated, making it easier to find what you need mid-game. What works less well for me: While the book gives lots of refined options, the power level of the faction has definitely been trimmed. Some of the previously dominant combos feel less potent now—if you’re used to “elite overload” playstyle, expect to adjust your tactics. There are no brand-new units—if you were hoping for fresh models or major units, this codex is more about fine-tuning the existing roster than shaking things up. Because the army leans even more on quality than quantity, each unit really matters. If your models don’t pull their weight, you’ll feel it. How I’m using it: On the hobby side, the strong visuals and narrative hooks mean I’m really motivated to paint up the models I already have and explore new combinations. On the gaming side, I’ve shifted into more objective-holding and fewer all-in smash tactics. I’m focusing on making each unit do more, rather than relying on massing them. I’ve found that detachment selection and unit upgrades matter more than ever—optimising for what your opponent is likely to throw at you pays dividends. Conclusion: If you’re a collector, painter or player of Adeptus Custodes, this codex delivers beautifully on lore, design and tactical variety. Gameplay-wise it’s a different beast than earlier editions—less about overwhelming power and more about efficient, surgical strikes. So if you’re prepared to adapt, it’s a strong purchase. If you expected another all-out elite smashbook, you might feel it’s more of an evolution than a revolution—but still very worthwhile.
