Powered by the PC's USB C, so no need for an external power supply when connected to the PC. I only use my desktop Creative powered speakers, but when fed through quality speakers like the Ruark desktop speakers, the difference is noticeable. Also very effective upgrade to sound as a quality DAC when powered by the power supply and fed from my mobile to my Denon mini system (much improved on bluetooth).
