Great device perfect for your door

We had quite a scare at the beginning of this summer with a creepy person walking by our home as our children played in the front yard. While our backdoor is extremely secure with two locks, our front door only has one of those very cheap "handle locks" that we've actually had problems with working properly in the past (it wouldn't "click" all the way, and even locked it could still be easily opened). I was in a panic after this incident (it appeared he was casing out our home from the conversation he had with my children) and I began to look for immediate solutions to our front door not feeling very secure. We rent and neither my husband or I are particularly "handy" when it comes to deadbolts, etc. So putting in a deadbolt seemed costly and possibly something that wouldn't happen in a timely manner. We decided on this lock since there is pretty much always someone home to lock it from the inside. I am a stay-at-home mom while my husband works nights. This was very easy to install and is extremely heavy-duty! Exactly what we needed since we're less concerned with theft on the rare occasions that no one is home, and more concerned with the safety of our children when we are inside. I showed both my 7 and 6 year old how to unlock it in the event of an emergency (such as a fire) and they are able to easily unlock it. Eventually, we will have a deadbolt installed, but in the meantime, I sleep much more soundly with this lock in place on our front door. Highly recommended if you're looking for a very heavy-duty lock for when you are inside your home/room!

Wow. I never used one of these before but it's got a solid lock to it. No movement whatsoever when engaged. I can barely get it to disengage. Maybe not good for weaker people.

As a part-time locksmith for many years, I have learned most residents are clueless how easily, quickly and quietly the vast majority of key locks may be opened without the proper key. This simple device offers a huge increase in security, while one is home or sleeping at night, but it only functions on doors which open into the room which you are protecting. It also helps reduce kicking in doors, which often now is a favorite way crooks attempt to enter buildings. If mounted high up, it discourages young children from leaving the house on their own, letting in strangers before the parents make it to the door or from entering the parent’s bedroom unannounced. I have purchased over 30 of these locks recently and they are currently my favorite gift for friends and family members, usually four locks at a time, along with heavier duty 4-inch #10 Phillips flat-head screws. That is how much I like these locks! Note: These locks are NOT useable when exiting a door, to leave the structure. For that application, one needs a bump-proof lock, like a Medeco or similar. If you cannot afford $80 Medeco locks, have a nice alarm system, along with other layers of security and utilize these locks when you are home. For renters, these locks may be mounted on MOST doors with only three screw holes. Really tight doors may require a little chisel work, especially if one decides to use huge #12 Phillips flat-head screws, which are really too large for this lock, as designed, but in bad neighborhoods, folks have tweaked things to make long #12 screws work. Just make sure that the door and door frame are up to the task. A lock is only as good as the weakest link!

Originally I had watched a Facebook video my girlfriend had sent me about this new security product and i thought this has got to have a catch or be phony.... So what could $22 bucks hurt spending it to try this out so i bought it and the only thing i didnt not like is i got uline instead of prime-line not a big deal theyre all the same. I installed it shortly after recieveing it with my impact driver with the 3"inch screws supplied and then i got my girlfriend to lock it so that i could test its strength, i am 200+lbs 5"8 heavy frame 56% muscle fairly good shape and my cousin who is 5"10 about 200 we both hip checked as well as tried 10+ times to boot the door in with just that no lockes engaged and shoulder check it... Result im pretty sure that even if u have a good new solid house your hinges would give out before this thing will -Great buy -Good value -Super Strong ( no to brag but ive ripped exterior doors on a new house off by accident and this held up to me) -800LBS to bust it -Quality product -Easy installation(you will need an impact driver for this) All in all a great purchase & have reccomended this to my friends and family.

UPDATE: For what it's worth I took 1 star off the rating for the screws. As another reviewer said, the screws are weak. I've installed 4 of these now on different outside doors, and the screws on the one going into the garage from the outside basically broke off in my hand when I tried to switch them out. DEFINITELY go with hardened screws like the Confast TAPCON concrete screws. Other than that a super solid lock Very simple to install and use with just a slight knowledge of tools. I used a cordless impact driver to drive 4 inch screws into the jamb. Nothing you can reasonably do will stop a determined intruder, but these will definitely slow them down long enough to arm yourself and call the police. Unlike a keyed lock that can be picked, these would make it impossible to get through the door without kicking it in. Unfortunately, 40 percent of break-ins involve forced entry, so I’m using these as a component of an overall security system, not a sole piece.
