Why are these packaged so poorly when being shipped through the mail?

Yes there are 12 in the box, and they are individually wrapped. There might be 2 packaged together, not sure if I remember correctly. So there might be 6 packs containing 2 cakes. Yummy

What kind of packaging is this shipped in? How are they not squished?

My experience was not quite so good. They were in the original box, which was packed inside a very sturdy larger box. Unfortunately, the cakes seem to have rattled around a lot inside the manufacturer's box during shipping (lots of room in the box allows this to happen) and were very squished. I do not see how this could have been prevented by the seller though, without opening the manufacturer's packaging and individually wrapping each two-pack in bubble wrap or something--more trouble than the seller should have to go to, tbh.
