I'm 50, very active, and had been experiencing more soreness in my elbows, hands and knees. It was getting so bad that the soreness/stiffness was making me not want to exercise anymore. I researched collagen as part of my master's program and eventually figured out there are over two dozen types, but for our concern, types I, II and III. I & III is prevalent in many types of connective tissue including the skin, but Type II is more joint specific. I took a bottle of this as directed for my knees (I have a torn meniscus) and, quite surprisingly, noticed that my elbows had stopped hurting. I finished the bottle, but looked for something a little easier since taking these meant I was having a glass of orange juice to wash down six capsules every morning, and then waiting a while to eat. I switched to a high quality powdered collagen that I could add to my hot coffee or tea hoping the same results would continue. Indeed, hair and skin quality did improve with the powder, but gradually my aches in my joints came back. I even wrote manufacturers why they wouldn't sell Type II as a powder supplement, but was told something nebulous like "Well, customers prefer capsules." I then actually kind of forgot about the Type II capsules. A few months passed and my elbows and knees and occasionally wrist began giving me problems and I was frankly a bit demoralized, thinking it would take me forever to warm up my joints before exercising again, and I saw I had a half bottle of this left. I took six capsules that evening with some tea (acidic) and six capsules the next morning with coffee (acidic). It wasn't 24 hours before I noticed an almost startling difference in my elbows and knees. "Wow!" was all I could think. I immediately ordered a subscription, and reasoned: a) this could be a placebo effect--but I don't care. Having my symptoms so vastly improved--whatever the mechanism--is great! Or b) Type II collagen is really that effective in joint function. I hope this helps.

I take 3 pills regularly. 1 tiny one, 1 daily vitamin that's around the same size as this one, and 1 fish oil pill that is bigger than this one. I've done this for years and years, no issues. I have taken antibiotics my parents jokingly called horse pills. Honest to God, this is the most miserable pill-taking experience I've had in my life. I gag. I throw up the water I wash it down with. Tried yogurt; that made it worse. Tried coffee, that put me off coffee for a week. I have to take them over the sink. They're so bad. But they do work. 5 years of knee pain and lower back pain, and these four pills get me completely pain free until I go back to work, and have me pain free 2 days before I go back. Might not sound like much, but others with knee pain will understand how wild it is that I can walk up 5 flights of stairs to work and not have joint pain. So it is, with my deepest regret, that I must wholeheartedly recommend this product. God, I wish it didn't taste so bad. (I am Only clarifying how bad they are to swallow because if you can't swallow them, they obviously are not going to work for you.)

I've been using Synthovial7 for 2 months now and it worked great after two weeks, but I noticed that after that initial time, it didn't quite work as well. It kind of went backwards a bit and I was considering whether or not I would continue to buy it since it is so expensive. Well, I came on Amazon to buy my 3rd bottle and saw this NeoCell product often sold with the Syn7 and in 3 days there is absolutely no pain in my knees. My knees were bothering me and I noticed I couldn't do lunges. I just finished my regular 2-hour workout at the gym and my knees feel amazing. I am so excited about this. I mean there is no pain or discomfort AT ALL. Going down the stairs I could feel some discomfort but it's gone!! I'm ready to do everything now. I going upstairs to pull out my Beyonce heels and, oh no, not really. Working out helps quite a bit with the knees and joint discomfort in general but I have to say, with the workouts, and I suppose both the Synthovial 7 and this Neocell product, my knees feel like I'm 16. Unbelievable. And maybe it is. If this keeps going for the next month, I'll be training for the Olympics (just kidding). But sometimes these products stop working and that's how I felt about the Syn7 products--felt good after 2 weeks but was not consistent. But taking them together has produced phenomenal results. Actually, I'm going to stop the Syn7 and see if it's the Neocell product that produced these results because that was the only thing I did differently. I'll update this review with my results. I'll buy again as I've been taking 2 a day now for a few weeks and my knees feel a lot better. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is b/c it smells awful!!! I now just hold my breath and gulp it down w/water. That seems to help it... I do believe it smells b/c of the ingredients. It's working for now so I'll keep taking!
