Review: Standard or Extended version? You decide. - This is a brilliant resource of book, DVD's to watch & play along with & CD jam-along tracks to ensure you play at the right tempo. I endured 18 months of lessons at a local Yamaha school and didn't learn any of the items in the first 4 chapters! The standard edition is very good but I would recommend the extended version if you can stretch the budget. The bonus resource video play-alongs are gratis in the extended version. Whilst you can download the PDF printable resources off the Gibson website you miss out on the bonus videos and extra practice. Standard edition to be good; Extended edition to be better! I really like the extra features too with a tour of the Gibson factory being a highlight. If you want to be able to read music, play guitar fast and truly master this instrument there is no better resource for the beginner. Ensure you have a metronome to hand to check your consistency...guessing you are playing to time just won't cut it when you play with other musicians!
Review: The Best Of All Guitar Tutors. - I have bought a number of guitar tutorials in the past and they have been in book or video form, but none can compare to this. It,s great reputation is certainly justified if you are prepared to put the time and energy into astering guitar. The approach is slow and methodical and the aim is to teach properly by learning to read music as well as play it. This set of dvd's, cd's and book will on average take most players through their first year of playing and what a great start it is. Thoroughly recommended.
