Good for Baking
I bought this because I got tired of grinding up lavender flowers for baking. I've used it in cupcakes in both the cake and the frosting, and I ended up liking the taste better than the flowers. Lavender is pretty tricky to use in baking, as adding even a little too much can make it taste soapy or like a beauty product. I was worried that because it's an extract it would be too concentrated and I wouldn't be able to use it successfully, but it ended up tasting really light and floral. It also has a much longer shelf life than dried flowers do, since they lose their fragrance over time. If you are baking with it I'd suggest starting with a small amount (about 1/4 tsp) and taste testing before adding more.

Truly, a rose extract. Not rose water.
This is the Real deal for making mamool or Any rose flavored shortbread cookies or desert. Very potent stuff so the price isn't high considering how little you need.I make a tea time favorite by simply adding half a cap full to my shortbread cookie recipe then I add dried rose petals (available in Asian stores and used for tea) into my dough and what I get is lovely white cookies speckled with bright pink rose petals and a beautiful rose bouquet in your mouth when take a bite. Never any chemical, bitter or phony flavor to it. Also, this has a Very long shelf life. My last bottle lasted me a couple years and it never "turned" on me and for lack of a better phrase..good to the last drop.

Second best thing to rose water
This has a definite rose scent and taste. It is not overpowering, in fact I didn't add enough the first time I used it. Rose water is the best ingredient for a rose smell and flavor, but I will be using this when a recipe can't take the added liquid of rose water.

Excellent
People seem to get EXTRACT and PURE OIL confused. Alcohol has to be added because it literally brings the flavor out of the small quantity of peppermint leaves that were actually used. If you don't want a product with alcohol then purchase the oil since they're usually 100% pure, nobody's forcing anyone to get the extract. But anyway, I used this along with cinnamon oil to make toothpicks, this flavor is very potent (No weak, sugary stuff here) It's so potent that I had to make my cinnamon and peppermint toothpicks in two different areas of the kitchen, or else the flavors and scents will overlap eachother and you will have a cinnamon/peppermint tasting toothpick. This also feels amazing when mixed with lotion. Why pay nearly 10 bucks for some goldbond when you can put a teaspoon of this in your $2.00 lotion and feel that instant tingle. You can even soak the head of your toothbrush in it and it lasts for several brushings. All in all, great buy; but please know...THIS IS THE EXTRACT!!! The company that makes these products doesn't deserve the bad reviews based on people's inability to decipher the two. Once again, this product IS THE EXTRACT!!!

Not my prefered after-taste
I think all people vary on what artifical stuff tastes chemically so opinions should vary. This does add a hint of chocolate flavor (3-4 drops in a cup of coffee, say) but that's also right at the level where the chemical flavor gets noticable for me. It's best use for me is to add a drop to a cup of coffee that's already chocolate flavored for when I want to nudge it up about a half notch or so. For me, and for my small window of usefulness, this bottle will last me more than a year easily.

This changes everything...
I got interested in culinary lavender after trying Sonic's Wildberry & Lavender shake. I'm in love!! So I ordered this to try and replicate it. In the meantime, I went to Pinterest to look for other recipes. I found one for Lavender Shortbread cookies. My son loves shortbread cookies (I wasn't a fan), so when I had an opportunity to visit him recently, I took my extract along. We made a batch (easy ingredients), baked them up, and OMG they were heavenly!! Right out of the oven, when they were still soft in the middle...WOW. Even after they hardened up, they were awesome....I think I just changed my mind about these cookies...as for the ice cream, I haven't gotten around to making it yet, but I'm sure it will be another winner. You owe it to yourself to try some of this extract...people will definitely be impressed.

I wanted to like this. It tastes like fruit loops
I wanted to like this. It tastes like fruit loops, which is a feature I find in some lemongrass preparations. I was hoping for a strong ginger smell, and a spicy ginger taste. I wanted to use it to make ginger/gingerbread lattes and ginger beer. What I got was basically fruit loops dissolved in alcohol.

Great product, excellent flavor
I have no complaints about this product. To be clear - this is rose EXTRACT, not rose water. There seems to be some confusion among other reviewers. Rose water is what is says it is - water with subtle rose flavoring that can be added to tea, etc. This is an extract, like vanilla extract or almond extract you would use for baking. It is highly concentrated in an alcohol base, intended for cooking or baking. I purchased this to make rose truffles. I was not disappointed. It added a very satisfying and potent rose flavor. I also added ground up rose petals. They worked very well together.
