Excellent sturdy transfer pole with grab bar, even works on carpet without damaging ceiling.
Our elderly aunt surely needed these, wish we would have gotten them earlier while she still had more strength... Put one next to the bed, near her favorite chair and the toilet ... work well for as long as she can. We have 8' foot tall ceilings, which is the minimum height for these poles, only have to raise and tighten them a couple inches before secure contact is made. Swiveling grab bars is handy, literally. Pretty easy to move around as needed, I tightened them in place just eyeballing being level and straight. Hand tightened using wrench tool until firm, grabbed pole and shook heavily to make sure secure, retighten a day later to allow for settling on carpet. No need to even make sure the top is underneath beams of the ceiling, plenty secure without damage. Pole isn't going anywhere. PROS: - Much better than a straight poles with no handles sticking out to grab onto. - Fits common 8' foot height ceiling minimum. - Easy assemble, Easy to tighten using included wrench. Doesn't need to be so tight you wreck your ceiling, is very secure with medium tension. - Works on carpet and rugs, no problem, just re-tighten after a few hours of settling. - No need to align with ceiling beams, width distributes weight securely. - Sturdy, heavy and well built, can easily handle elderly weight (120 lbs - 200 lbs) and more with no slipping of pole once adjusted tightly and firm. - Also good for hanging things off the grab bar next to bed. - Much better price new than medical supply store. CONS: - None really, would be nice if the grab bar could adjust up and down but it's not really necessary is it's set at a pretty good heigh for most situations and helping from sit to stand.

1) Small footprint for tight spaces or close to a wall 2) The rotatable grab bar is firmly affixed.
We've primarily used this pole to provide a grab bar in front of the toilet so the elderly can align themselves between the loop-style grab bar and the toilet for a confident seating experience. The elderly appreciated this approach. For us, it reduces the number of backward steps they take and reduces dependence on other grab bars behind the person with limited mobility. Of course, the grab bar rotates out of the way for those who have cleaning or construction duties. Two great things about the design that others may not have: A) The small footprint at the bottom is smartly paired with an I-shaped mount at the top. It allows the pole to be placed close to a wall or in a tight space by a toilet. A2) The I shape of the mount above gives extra confidence that a) one can orient it to the rafters in the ceiling and crank on the jack screw without punching through the ceiling and b) when it comes time to become semi-permanent, one can screw the pole into a ceiling rafter for long-term confidence that the pole won't likely "walk" out of place after many tugs and bumps on the pole. B) Unlike others, this grab bar is securely attached to an outer cylinder surrounding the pole (it might be welded). Other poles have grab bars only held in place by friction between a screw-based clamp. I had one of those types of handles work loose. It's almost offensive how competitor's clamps don't offer even a simple pin to hold the bar in place as a backup should the clamp screw loosen. We've moved this pole and others multiple times to adjust to changing needs during experiments, construction, etc. It worked well in a transfer seat experiment. It has been great to have such an easy way to relocate it. We've used other poles like this near chairs which offer stability during standing and seating squat exercises. Tips and an unanswered question: a) When relocating the pole, the bottom foot falls off. Just put a (clear) piece of tape around that bottom tube seam and that seeming oversight is eliminated. b) It's not clear if a person in a walker could easily pull the knob and swing the grab bar out of the way to pass by. It's easy for those with normal mobility, but simultaneously reaching low, pulling a knob, and swinging the bar might be too much of a leaning distraction for those who depend on a walker. In our case, we have enough grab bars that the walker is meant to be left outside the bathroom to avoid making backward steps.

Outstanding product!
Outstanding product. I liked it so much we purchased a second one. Durable, functional, practical, and easy to install. With one pole I have used screws into the floor to help stabilize it on the carpet. Although it may not have been necessary to do so, I wanted to be extra safe. It is located in the bedroom. The other pole is standing on a tile floor in the bathroom and it is not screwed into anything, just mounted with the provided pressure mounting nut located in the center of the pole. I highly recommend this product! Update: Saturday, May 20th, 2017 Having had two of these poles for about a year now, they are still outstanding for almost anyone who is in a wheelchair and needs to transfer to a bed, toilet, couch, or the like. However, one of the poles had a problem when the small knob that you pull out to change the position of the pole handles stopped working. The knob is supposed to pull out, allowing the user to move the pole handles around easily, then when you let go of the knob, it locks the handles in place. When the knob broke and stopped locking, I was pretty upset. The pole is pretty much unusable without the knob locking. Anyway, after reading advice from another reviewer who had a similar problem, I found that it was easily fixed. Just screw the knob back in to get the pole handles to lock again. Note that you may have to turn the outer plastic knob part many times (to the right) and jiggle the grab bar part back and forth a bit before the knob works correctly again. But stick with it. This method should fix the problem. July 9th, 2021 update: A family member has used these poles to transfer from wheelchair to bed and toilet for years. Other than on rare occasion having to screw the plastic latch knob back in (takes about 30 seconds), no problems at all, and a real life and back saver! January 14th, 2025 update: My 93 year-old mother had a bad fall a few months ago. During her recovery, I bought her one of these poles to install beside the chair she sits in to watch TV. She really likes it!Other people in the senior apartment building in which she lives have come by to see her and commented on it. She is happy to tell them all how much it helps her out. She uses it to steady herself when she gets out of her chair. Did not install any screws for the pole at all. Just used the pressure mount nut included with the pole and it installed easily on her vinyl flooring and is rock solid.

Frustrating return experience with seller and Delhivery pick up partner. Money is blocked, item cannot be dropped for return and Delhivery courier doesn't come to take the product. Don't go for this purchase unless you are absolutely sure it will fit in your bathroom.

I purchased this to help me getting in and out of my walk-in bath which has a belt seat. It is superb and gives me all the help I need, with the grab bar easy to position exactly where I want it. Assembly instructions were easy to understand and follow and I had it unpacked and set up within 30 minutes of arrival. I laid it flat on the floor in my living room to assemble and then moved it to my bathroom, where I tied it to the radiator to support it , whilst adjusting the height. I am nearly 80 and only 5 feet tall! Just a word of warning, it is very heavy, so it might be safer to have a young or strong person to set it up, to avoid any mishap. It is a very sturdy, well-made product that even came with a spanner to adjust the height. The ceiling support has excellent pads to protect your decor and is very stable in position. A further advantage is that i could be moved to a different location without any damage to floor or ceiling.

My elderly folks were finding it hard to get into and out of the bathtub with a tub chair. I purchased this and installation was a snap. Strong, sturdy, will not budge. Handle is very useful. Can hang towel and washcloth on it too. Plus, the toilet is next to it and they're able to use it to help get up. Great help. Very happy. Comes in white as well.
