I'm giving it 5 stars because it is so much fun. We got it for Christmas and have played it multiple times. I would give it 3 stars because it could be made a little better. One of the spots is missing the white sticker for the blockade space. I think another spot is missing a color. It's not a big deal because the instructions show where to start the set up and then it doesn't matter about the inside spots. I might need to paint the inside some of the correct colors but it's a minor issue for how fun it is.

We enjoy this game of strategy. I didn't give 5 stars because the pegs are sometimes difficult to move and the board is so small.

Since my wife and I play games in the evening instead of 'couch potato vegetating in front of the boob tube', we challenge each other intently with games. Barricade combines features of many other games yet allows you to 'barricade' your opponent from reaching the goal place with a win. The game is made of all wood for a lifetime quality play. It is easy to learn, fun to play with a clever design. Initially it would seem to take extended time like the marble game aggravation but with such clever conceptual inventiveness, it is remarkedly speedy.

I was looking for a easy to learn board game that still has some strategy for us to play with my 80 year old mom and my kids. I had read about Barricade (originally called Malefiz) and thought it would be a perfect fit for my needs. While the gameplay works, the quality of this set is lacking. Gameplay is definitely 5 stars. Gameplay is easy to learn. The included manual is in VERY small print but there are plenty of quick videos online that you can watch and be playing within minutes. Each players colored pegs are in their "home" at the bottom of the board. The object is to be the first player to get all pegs to the top space and remove them from the board. Blockade pegs are set up in set spots on the board. You must roll an exact number that will have one of your colored pegs land of a blockade in order to remove it. When it is removed, you can then place it anywhere on the board in order to slow your opponent down. Easy to learn but you will need to think about strategy when placing the blockades. The problem is that the quality of the production on this set is lacking. The board is made up of very lightweight wood. Mine came with some damage. The varnish used was put on after it was assembled and, as you can see from my pics, doesn't fully reach the edges on the inside. The "home" areas aren't painted but are very basic stickers (many of which weren't put on carefully or have already started to peel off as soon as I took it out of the box. The pegs are also only colored on the tops vs. other sets I have seen where the entire peg is colored for ease of quickly spotting where your pieces are located. There are two good things though. The board is a smaller board that folds and can hold all of the pegs and dice inside for travel. The dice are wooden and are well made. The build quality is only a 2 star unfortunately. Overall, this is an okay set if you are looking for a game that you can travel with. It's small enough to toss in a backpack (be careful though since the wood WILL get dinged up) or can be played in the back seat of a car to keep the kids occupied. I will be using some craft paint to paint the pegs and "home" spots so they are clearer. I also think that the $30 asking price for the low quality is a bit high. I would rate it as 2.5 stars if half stars were allowed.

This game is so much fun. Ever since we got this game we’ve been playing it every night as a family. The board is high quality as well. The pegs and dice too. It is also foldable which makes it easy to store the items that come with it and easy to carry around. Instructions are clear. Overall, this game is so worth it!

The pegs do not fit in the holes or are extremely tight. Love the game, hate the board design
