4.5 stars - here is why
Great product for pros and DYIs. I am a very handy weekend warrior and I found the added width/area for this sanding head to have two benefits 1.) it obviously kept me on a broader flatter plane than a more standard narrower sander (avoiding rutts) & 2.) it was much easier for me to articulate milding rotating the head of the sander creating the circular motion that some of my contractor friends recommended. Again lessening the chance for rutts and over sanding in one spot. As mentioned by others, the coupling for the pole was useless. My solution was to buy a breakdown pole with multiple section. In the first section I "reversed" the pole end, flooded the female end of the pole with two part epoxy, and set in the male end of this sander. The first section is now permanant and I add sections if needed. It worked perfectly for me.

Drywall Finishing
Saw this mentioned on youtube and I gave it a try. Perfect tool for sanding down the final skim coat. Worked perfectly for my skim coat job. I recommend it to anyone looking for better results on a skim coating job.

Great for finish sanding skim
Worth the money. Lays flat every time. Only annoying part is that it utilizes a male connector, so you need an adapter with most store bought extension poles.

Sometimes the right tool is worth the money.
I am redoing a few rooms and had to skim coat some ceilings and walls. I tried several sanders, and found that working on the ceiling especially made it very difficult because they took so much effort to be careful with the sander head while craning your neck and using a light to check the finish. This thing is basically foolproof. Unfortunately, as a non-pro I did have to buy an adapter to fit on a traditional painter pole but overall it was worth it. Most importantly, the sanding pads have the perfect padding to protect the finish even on ultra lightweight mud and work quickly. I haven't used the real coarse pads, but I suspect this is best used only for a finish sand, which is what I bought it for. I will stick with the vacuum pole sander with screens if I need to remove a lot of drywall mud.

Really speeds up sanding.
Works great for large projects that have been machine taped. Screws right into standard taping tool threaded handles such as Level 5. Not fast cutting so I probably wouldn’t use behind hand taping unless you are really proficient At keeping your edges blended. Does work great though behind mechanical boxes especially for a quick slick down before final coating.
