Kings County Tools Tree Trimmer Loppers with 26" - 40" Long Handles

I have had to trim the water spout branches from our Transparent Apple 🍏 Tree. It is quite aged so it has branches that span 20 feet diameter. My previous pruners were the one length, read short, pruners many times tightened and rehoned. Always before I was maneuvering the robust aluminum ladder in the household underneath the tree to access those spouts in the center. I am 75, so pruning on a ladder is not my favorite thing. But with this 42" extension It was possible to keep the ladder on the perimeter of the tree. I needed only to reach the extended pruners for several limbs from the ground in the center. I agree with others that some sense of doubting about the extended arms being able to snip larger branches when held at the end, so just don't do that. The three levels of leverage ratcheting built in helped to answer this problem when I ran up into it. I also appreciated the corrugation grip on the face of one jaw which grips a limb against slipping from the bypass sheer. Lastly, the extension functions smoothly on both arms with numerous "stop" locations. I started on the grape vinyard yesterday. I will no longer be reaching overhead for most of the trimming, operating this tool from about waist high in the extended fully mode. I was disappointed that the shipping price break was such that the freight break at $70.00 nearly doubled the cost of the replacement sheer so I opted out. The grape vines have high tinsel wires along 70 foot row, and sure enough I rent a small ding in the sheer in the first hour. Still works fine I just know that it is there. Great tool.

I have done a LOT of lopping, as I volunteered for years with the forest service doing trail clearing. When Craftsman changed its guarantee and stopped allowing free trade-ins, AND its extending handles and handle cushions didn't stay put, I quit that brand and tried this one. The ratcheting action was something I had never experienced, and it seemed a little odd at first, but it really seems to add a lot more cutting power. It also allows you to cut big branches without having to open the handles very far, so it works great in tight quarters (as when there's a lot of crowding by other branches). What a bonus. The operation of the handle extensions is fabulous! They always stay locked in place, and they're very fast and easy to shorten and lengthen as needed, with pushbutton operation. You have five handle-length settings to choose from. I highly recommend them. Excellent design, and worth the money, to me.

My “brand name” loppers are flimsy and the cutting edges splay making it impossible to get a clean cut. These Kings County Tools ratcheting bypass loppers are in a totally different league! The cutting head is very substantial and able to cut thick branches easily and cleanly. But the tool is remarkably light because of the aluminum construction. While light, they are also incredibly strong because of how the aluminum arms are formed. Telescoping the arms to reach higher branches is a breeze. Just push in the button on each arm and extend it to your desired length. No knobs to twist or unscrew - super easy! Even the rubberized grips are beastly! This thing is built to take punishment and make you happy you spent the money to “get what you pay for.” P.S. I also have an older model that is non-telescoping and non-ratcheting which I bought in the late 80’s and they’re still going strong.

very good cutters but honestly too heavy for me....medium build 5'4" female. I'm buying a pair of powered pruners 🤷‍♀️

With the COIVD lockdown gardening is more therapeutic than ever this year. I took to trimming the trees and bushes with my old legacy style loppers. You know the kind, no ratchet, short handles, and worst of all you slam your knuckles together every time you clip something. A quick search online found the Kings County ratcheting loppers. When they arrived I took them out to a field we just had mowed and was full of Buckthorn and Summac stumps. I extended the handles and went to work cutting off the stumps. This thing works great. I don't have to bend down to reach the stumps. The jaws open wide enough to get around large stumps. But the best feature is the ratcheting cutter. Even on the largest stump just three quick strokes and it is cut off cleanly. I then tried them out on the trees. The extended reach allowed me to trim branches that previously required a step ladder. Again the ratchet system allowed me to trim branches I would have used a chainsaw on before. They do take a little getting used to. I was so used to simply forcing the cut with my old loppers that I tended to do the same with these new ones. Instead of relying on the ratchet system I would just brute-force my way through the cut. Don't do that. Use the ratchet or risk bending the handles. I came close a couple of times before I remembered to just use the ratchet system. Bottom line. These are the best garden purchase of the year.

I am trimming Live Oak Trees with the King County ratcheting bypass lopper. Let me compare it to my Florian 2 inch anvil ratcheting lopper that I have had for over fifteen years. First the reason for buying the King bypass is that it is easier to get the open jawed bypass lopper over larger branches (the king model is advertised as up to 2 to 2.5 inches and that is because one can shove the blade into a slightly over 2 inch branch by cutting into the branch. The Florian on the other hand is very difficult to get over a branch that is close to but less than two inches because of the hook shaped anvil. The force needed to cut oak branches is significant and may be a bit more than the Florian although I think that might be that a summer growth on the oak is harder than winter growth although I am not sure of that. It could be that bypass loppers require somewhat more force to cut a given branch. The extension handles on the King model were extended to reach higher branches and that feature is valuable as long as the higher branches are not too large, say one inch or less, because of the force necessary to cut them. Another user noted the problem of bending the handles when they are extended and I guarded against that by not trying to cut larger branches with the handles extended. Over all I am glad to have the King lopper to use as I have four live oak trees that need trimming on occasion and as they mature the branches are enlarging and the bypass lopper extends the time I can use a pruner.

Got this at a great price so no complaints from me. Its nice, hefty and feels like it was well made.

I like the way they cut with little effort due to the sharp blades and the ratcheting action, are extendable & can buy replacment blades if necessary. Have only had these for a little while but the use I've gotten out of them was well worth the cost of these amazing loppers

Excellent product. Well made of robust construction and better than many other Ratchet pruning shears that are available.

I have had a few. But this takes the cake very sturdy and ratchet works in confined areas. See the video on youtube
