I had to buy this special tool set to remove the tamper resistant screws and between the fuses and tool set, my total repair cost was $16.00. If you attempt this, you need to google starting capacitors and understand the stored voltage that could seriously hurt or kill you. There is a reason for the tamper resistant screws. You can unplug the microwave and let it sit for 24 hours before working on it or if you have some level of experience and proper tools and safety equipment, there is a way to drain the voltage from the starting capacitor to remove any chance of electrocution.

Needed long bits to spin out that occasional security screw that’s buried deep in a housing. I use these along with the extra long handle security wrenches. Makes the job go a lot faster if you loosen the screw with the hand wrench then spin the screw out with one of these.
