Unlocking Deeper Health Understanding
The perfect partner to a Withings smartwatch for an integrated health view. The Withings Body Scan smart scales are a notable addition to my health routine. Their ease of use is clear from the start; the scales connect seamlessly, sending all details straight to the app without requiring my phone to be present. While all bioimpedance technology has its known caveats, the readings from the Body Scan feel consistent and provide useful feedback for tracking progress. What distinguishes these scales is the volume of valuable health metrics they capture. Having these diverse data points available to monitor is certainly helpful. This synergy with my Withings ScanWatch Nova is particularly beneficial. The combination of data from both the scales and the watch creates a more comprehensive health analysis, all conveniently housed within the insightful Withings app. This integrated approach has contributed to a better understanding of my health markers and potential areas for improvement.Aesthetically and tactilely, the Body Scan scales align well with the premium feel of other Withings products. They present as solid and well-made, reinforcing the sense of a quality investment in well-being.

Confrontational but good product
It was time to get a new scale in our household. First of all we had to start looking after these WFH wight gains and secondly our former scale was just too old, inaccurate. We decided to try one of these new digital scales with wifi connectivity. And even though Withings wasn’t a familiar brand to us this seemed to be one of the more upscale brand to go to, after all it was one of the products suggested on the Apple site. This also implied a steep 600% premium in price compared to the average bathroom scale - we could have spent £20 on an average digital scale rather than the $130 we paid for this premium model in the Withings range. Was it worth such a mark up?Well the scale is stylish, and it feels quite durable and of high quality. Also its presentation, given the packaging is good. This simply makes it a nice, proper gift as well. Then in terms of ease of use and connectivity I would also rank it high. It works straight out of the box. And if you are willing to download the app and spend a few extra minutes to fill out a few basic data you are set up in just a few minutes. I should say that we found it a little hard to set up family profiles. The scale detects different family members bases on their body measurements, which is great. However only one person can keep these extra data on their digital device and as far as we understand you can’t share it in a family group. So we had duplicate profiles for our children initially before we erased the extra one, which was confusing to and the and the scale. For the rest the app is great and straightforward, its can share data with other health apps, and historic data can be manually added. If you wish to be confronted with the truth you can get weekly reports by email. The scale automatically sends new data to your mobile device within a few minutes. The battery lasts for months, we use the scale daily a couple fo times and we haven’t had to recharge for the past 3 months. Is it accurate? I guess so but I found there is a 300 - 400 gram bounce when you step on it before it pins down your weight and therefore daily variation depending on your posture, and time of measurement - I usually take my weight and body measurement once a day straigth out of bed. Now, this premium version of the scale is also capable to do a full body measurement. In fact is does the whole sequence whenever you step on it, including a weather report. I lost interest after using those functions once. Mostly because I’m in a rush in the morning and it takes about a minutes to go through everything. But there is a BMI, heart rate, body fat measuring ect. I still find that the BMI is off, or based on a different calculation that I would otherwise get to (its too high). On the other hand, one of our children has a heart condition, so the heart rate measure feature is a helpful addition. So looking back we probably shouldn’t have paid for these extra features, but its nice to have. And overall this is a good product that we like and would recommend.

Just terrible
I'm a bit disappointed that these scales were so bad.Firstly, the body comp function never worked; and it never successfully detected me despite being the only person using the scales, and the app is pretty awfulThe broken body scan function seems to be a common complaint online, and the tech support documentation on the Withings website references screens and features that don't exist in this current iteration of the app. I tried resetting the scales, reconnecting the app, etc., but nothing worked. The app itself is, in my opinion, a complete disaster. I want to see body composition/weight readings and charts. I don't want to see all the other unrelated health metrics like time slept, aerobic fitness, etc. I also don't want to be constantly upsold Withings+ and other products, and the coaching feature is annoying. They are trying to make it your go-to health app chock full of everything except what I want to see: weight, body composition and trends over time.I returned the scales and got the Tanita RD-953, which does everything I need and is simple and intuitive to use. Well done Tanita.

Awesome, feature rich scales. Broke in two months. **UPDATED**
This is a "do everything" machine, and if you're into fitness or just curious about your health and how to improve it, these scales are for you.The advanced cardio metrics give an interesting insight into your cardiac health and show measurable improvements when going through a long term cardio exercise program.Unfortunately our scales have failed after only 2 months of use (and no, we're not "heavy people" :) yet we are still trying to get Withings customer service to respond to our pleas for help. We love the machine and we just want it fixed.Would be a 5 star review if the device wasn't so prone to completely breaking in such a short period. I hope this is just bad luck and not a trend in their products.UPDATE: Withings steamed for a replacement device to be dispatched by Amazon, and we're receiving it today, so I'm revising the review up by one star, since I can't really give it 5 until I work out whether the failure was a one off or a design fault.
