Is this sauce spicy? I cant handle hot spices.

No, this is more of a savory sweet sauce, and not spicy at all. I can't handle spicy foods at all, tears my stomach up completely. I love this sauce!

I'm not certain as it's all in Japanese. Takoyaki sauce is similar to Worcestershire sauce- closest thing I can compare it to. Keep in mind that if you are extremely sensitive to MSG, takoyaki or anything made with dashi may not be for you. Even making dashi yourself (which I do), the kombu and bonito flakes that are needed both have naturally occurring glutamate (monosodium glutamate is just glutamate stabilized with sodium).

Does this need to be refrigerated?

I follow the rule of thumb with any sauce and that's refrigerate after opening, but I do set it out prior to use and let it get room temp. I don't believe you have to though with this sauce, just like Teriyaki. You don't have to refrigerate it, but I usually do just to be on the safe side.
