I had no idea what was wrong & we have no aquatic vet close by so after googling symptoms in great detail & doing some research it kept coming back as bacterial infection. I’ve had my other fish 20+ years & never had to use any chemicals in my pond or treat any of my fish .. Decided to give melafix a go & im really glad I did . I isolated him in a tank & im currently on day 6 of the treatment . He’d been bottom sitting in my pond for weeks , he’d never come up for food at feeding time & he spent 24 hours a day hiding behind my pond plants . As you can see in the video I took yesterday he’s now swimming around perfectly normal & happy , Ive been using koi flakes to feed him whilst he’s in the tank (usually use MediKoi) & it’s the first time I’ve seen him eat since he fell ill . The melafix also cleared up a red bloodshot patch he’d got underneath his body within the first dose of treatment . He’s not stopped swimming around & playing with the bubbles from the air stones 😂 I’ll be gutted when I have to put him back in the pond . I’d definitely recommend this stuff . I thought I was gonna lose my fish he was so lethargic & unwell but it took just 3 days of this stuff & I saw positive signs . Just to add , it did make the water go incredibly cloudy and my koi did start rubbing a bit against the airstones which can be a side effect to using melafix .
