Good Popper
So far have used the Stir Crazy half a dozen times and am very pleased with it. Would say an average amount of unpopped kernels (may be different with other corn companies). When using room temperature butter, melts it very well. I like to first put in 3 kernels and wait for them to pop before adding the whole batch. Flipping it over and using the top for the bowl is handy. Short time to complete popping. Clean up is easy. Overall happy with the purchase

Dependable tasty popcorn
We were looking to get a popcorn popping machine to switch over the healthier snack option and save money vs buy popped popcorn at snack aisle. I remembered the Westbend popcorn popping machines friends' families used to have years ago and figured they must be reliable and still in business. We have consumed four bags of popcorn so far and are very happy. It completes popping the kernels before the heating cycle over. There is no oily surface of popcorn. It's very easy to clean. One tip: One of the bags of corn kernels we consumed had some smaller size kernels. When we popped that bag we typically got 3-6 non popped kernels lodge under the steel turning blade. Not sure if this is a long term issue with operation of the machine. Now I eyeball the bags to try and pick uniform "larger" size kernels to avoid getting so many duds lodged under the turning blade. Larger kernels that don't pop are just stirred around by blade.

Pops a lot of corn in one batch
Pops corn faster than any other popper I have ever used. I followed directions for amount of oil to use and it was too much; popped corn was kind of swimming in oil. I will try half of recommended oil next time. Putting butter in the lid didn't work very well even using soft butter. It was mostly a melty blob left in the lid at the end of the popping cycle. The plastic pieces feel kind of flimsy. Wish components could be put in the dishwasher. Final assessment is that with some adjustments on my part, like melting butter separately and pouring on after popping corn will work better, and taking care to not damage plastic pieces, that this popper will last a reasonable amount of time.

whoever did this redesign of a good product should be ashamed.
We have had 3 Stir Crazies, each lasting 8-10 years of constant use before they would finally give up the ghost. Therefore, when it came time to get a new one, we thought it was going to be great given our history. This was a huge disappointment. The red lid that covers the butter while it melts warped immediately. It just sits on top, sliding around, serving no real purpose since it is not possible to flip the bowl over without the butter spilling. The butter just doesnโt melt like it did with the other ones. I think that that is a function of the shape of the bowl. There is a lot of height and so perhaps not enough heat is reaching the butter. The bowl itself is very cheaply made; the plastic is significantly thinner and when you hold it the bowl itself flexes visibly. I am more careful washing this than I am with some China we inherited. A selling point was that this was going to store more compactly than the others did, but given the cord is attached it doesnโt quite meet expectations. It did make popcorn. But, so do open flames.

West Bend is BACK! (Finally!)
West Bend is BACK! I have used West Bend for over 20 years now. The old design was filled with flaws. After a few uses, it would not heat up enough to pop all of the kernels. Bought another one and the new one did the same thing. I saw this redesigned unit and told myself I would give them one last chance before I went to a different brand. This unit pops fast! I like the better design for tucking away the power cord. Also it handles popping the kernels evenly. The only thing I have negative to say is that some of the unpopped kernels will get stuck on the outermost lip of the inside of the unit. Easy to clean and the lid is dishwasher safe! Very happy with my purchase!

Could be better
Too many unpopped kernels with this compared to my old popper.

Top shelf popcorn maker
We have owned this popcorn maker for a little over 1.5 years. We use it frequently. It is still hot, fast and the coating is in good shape. We had many a maker, this is by far the best.
