The socket type is sTR5, the chipset is trx50, the performance is insane
Anyone confused by the socket type should be looking for a motherboard with socket type sTR5 *and* chipset TRX50. I upgraded from a system that was only a couple years old (Threadripper 2950X 3.5 GHz 16-Core Processor + PRIME X399-A EATX TR4 Motherboard + Corsair Force Series MP510 2TB M.2). With my previous system, which was pretty fast, it took almost exactly 10 minutes to compile my full C++ 3D RPG project. With this new system (this processor + ASUS Pro WS TRX50-SAGE WIFI CEB Workstation motherboard + SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD 4TB M.2), it takes around 2 minutes! So I'm pretty satisfied with the upgrade, even though it was pretty expensive.

Fastest CPU you can buy next to the 7985WX and 7995WX
This is the fastest desktop CPU you can buy next to the 7985WX and 7995WX. Expensive, but worth it if you can afford it.

Supreme CPU Overlord
More power efficient than a 7800X3D by FAR, incomprehensible performance with 5.4 to 5.5 GHZ on all cores overclockable. Superior multithreading and with utterly unfathomable PCIE lane expansion and limitless DDR5 headroom. Worth twice it's asking price. To be honest, this is more accurately, describing the 7995WX Threadripper PRO processor, which is the legitimate best of the best, but the 7980X and 7970X Threadrippers are enterprise class workstation CPUs worth every penny.
