6-12'' Piston Type Quick Change Tool Set 100 AXA

I have an old Harbor Freight combination mill/manual lathe with a 14.5" swing and this post fits very good with no modification to the base. The fit depends on your compound setup and as you can see my cross slide is pretty high. The description was very useful in determining the base height to the work piece center and it put me near the top of the post with the tool holder. I use 1/2" bits and if I want to go to 3/4" I will invest in the BXA post. There is an AXA oversize tool holder that allows you to go to 5/8" However as you can see I have not modified the base plate and if I did that I would be able to lower the tool holder on the post with a shim under the post base. I may do that in the future but for now it works great. No more fooling around with shims to get the bits to line up. A simple, quick adjustment and you are done. Additional tool holders are reasonably priced so you can have one for each bit and have them perfectly aligned.Everything is machined very well and once adjusted repeatably is assured. I used the simple steel ruler for alignment and it worked great. I did some facing on some small diameter brass rods and after changing bit holder every thing repeated very well. I highly recommend this product and seller!

the basic parts of the set up are pretty nice but the adjusting screw and nut to adjust the height seem cheap. when you go lock in the height it does not seem like it locks secure. i like all of the parts except for maybe the cut off tool, it doesn't secure the cut off tool well enough and i had it jump out once.the base plate did not fit my compound slot, but i expected that, i did have a part that fit so that was not a problem for me.the attachments fit the base real nice and i think i got what i paid as it was a lot less money than some of the other tool holders. i fit this on my 12 inch Atlas lathe

I have a SIEG C6 550x (10 inch swing) and this made ALL the difference. I will be buying an extra holder for every lathe tool I own. I needed to do some mods to get it to fit my SIEG - On some machines I recommend ordering an M14 by 1.5 tap from Amazon to insure you can install it.It is amazing. I can position my bits to the right location with NO shims and change holders with a twist of a lever. I wish I had bought this sooner.It is built with quality in mind and in my opinion is a precision device. This is a MUST HAVE for any lathe - even if you are just a hobbyist this is money WELL spent. Make sure you pick the right one for your swing size is all.The build quality on this is excellent and it is certainly made to last. I seriously recommend it.

bought this for my smithy granite 1340 - wasn't sure what to expect and was ready to unwrap some cheap pos BUT i was very pleased at the quality and craftsmanship of this qctp. very nice fit & finish to it- it simply took 2 minutes to drill out a detent hole (not even necessary if you dont care about retaining the detent on the stock tool post) and i was in business. very happy with the purchase!

I have used other brand name imported tool holder sets and this set appears to be as good or better. Everything has a very good finish, and everything works as intended. It was shipped well oiled, and not the type of oil that stinks like diesel fuel which I have found on other imported tools. Since this tool set is designed to fit many different lathes, the set comes with bottom mounting plate you will need to machine to fit your lathe. Very happy with my purchase and would buy again if needed.
