The industry standard for cold weather warmth and comfort, our signature style is fully cushioned to keep you warm and protected from the elements. Reinforcement throughout the sole extends the life of the sock and adds protection in the highest abrasion areas. Ankle vents reduce bulk so you don't have to sacrifice comfort for warmth. Review: Great winter socks with your winter boots. Great for at home or for sleeping. - For my needs, these Carhartt Men's Extremes Cold Weather Socks worked great. The Carhartt name alone means quality and perfromance. Having put these on and wearing my winter boots, these fit perfect for me. They are 70% Acrylic, 15% Wool, 13% Nylon and 1% Lycra. I don't live in an extreme cold weather area, but it does get cold and sometimes very cold. Just make sure you have room in your boots for thick or winter socks. 1/2 size larger at least is what you should be wearing to offset the additional thickness in your boots. Otherwise, you get that tight bulging feet that begin to hurt due to tightness of what you are wearing, lack of ability to wick moisture and the air pocket of warmth created. You get everything pressed against your feet, your feet lose circulation and the cold just burns right through onto your feet and your feet feels it and gets ice cold fast despite what you are wearing on them. Make sure your boots can accommodate thicker socks. If not, get a pair of winter boots 1/2 size larger for the winter or cold weather when you need them. You can still wear hose 1/2 size larger boots in the summer with thick hiking socks that breath and wick moisture. The thickness of these socks are fairly thick, but they are very comfortable. If you need a thinner pair of Winter wool socks, you can try the Carhartt Triple Blend Cold Weather socks. Carhartt Men's Triple Blend Thermal Boot Socks, HeatherGrey, 10-13 Sock/6-12 Shoe They are thinner in construction and are sleeker than the Extremes ones. The Triple Blend ones are 43% Acrylic, 21% Polyester, 19% Wool, 16% Nylon and 1% Lycra. They have a little bit more % of wool, but the combination of other materials makes for a sleeker, thinner sock and is not as warm as the Extremes one. From what I read, they are popular with our US military men and women abroad that request things from home to wear on their feet in their boots. If you need really warm socks the Carhartt Arctic Wool Heavtweight Cold Weather socks are the thickest warmest work socks they have available that I am aware. Carhartt Men's Arctic Wool Heavy Boot Socks, Brown, 10-13 Sock/6-12 Shoe They are the ones for bad weather situations for those working on fishing boats and in the snow and arctic conditions. They are 85% Wool, 6% Nylon, 4% Polyester, 1% Lycra and 4% Other Fibers. They are thicker than the Extremes socks for sure. If you buy them, make sure you know everything you need to know about wool socks and the proper size boots to wear with these wool socks or else you may suffer from pain and cold rather than gain from comfort and warmth. As for the Extremes ones from Carhartt, they work best for me. They provide excellent warmth. My feet stay dry from the moisture wicking. And, my feet don't overheat from wearing them. The 15% wool content limits any uncomfortable feeling with wearing wool socks, and they add enough to my needs for warmth working with my own body temperature creating a good warm air pocket in my boots. I recommend these socks for those that have the right boots for them. Otherwise, the Triple Blend ones may work better for you for the boots you have if they are not sized for additional thickness from winter socks. They may not be as warm by a little bit , but you would be wearing the right size socks that work with your boots and moisture wicking occurs, drying your feet and creating that warm air pocket of comfort. Your socks and boots have to work together for your feet otherwise one or both work against you. If you plan on wearing sock liners as well, the Carhartt sock liners are quality and comfortable, but they will add more thickness under your socks and in your boots. So, be prepared to have the right size boots if you are planning to wear both Winter wool socks and sock liners as well. Carhartt Men's 3 Pack Liner Socks, Black, 10-13 Sock/6-12 Shoe They will work together as log as you use them together in the right situation on your feet. If you are just looking for socks to keep your feet warm when you sleep or walking around the home, these are perfect. Stay away from Cotton socks even at home or sleeping in cold weather. Cotton absorbs moisture and your feet freeze. Review: These cold weather socks are amazing - This was the first year with our cold and wet Boston winters that I finally decided to buy suitable socks to wear with my boots. Every year I have suffered with cold feet plus with having them get a little damp. These cushioned, moisture-wicking crew socks featuring ribbed cuff and reinforced sole are absolutely amazing. I did much research and chose these socks and am very happy I did. They are so well made - thick and durable. When I put them on I was struck by how thick they were and how it honestly felt like I was walking on clouds due to their softness. They ride far up beyond my ankles but manage to not be too hot. So the softness and thickness was great but how would they actually work. We have had 3 major snow storms here in Boston so far this winter and these socks have been put to the test with my winter boots. With these Carhartt socks my feet remain warm and comfortable no matter how cold the temperature plus no matter how much snow I may walk in. And my feet never feel like they are getting wet and if any moisture is getting in the boots the moisture wicking detail of these socks is doing its job. I love that these socks are high rise on me for they keep me warm but not hot and prevent the cold from also not getting to my legs. I don't sweat in these socks due to the wool blend but instead remain warm and fully protected from the elements. For me they are great. Finally I can do whatever I want in our storms or out in the snow and not be concerned about the cold or wet. And let me end by saying again - these socks are so well made and soft! Highly recommend.

Finally, a perfect fit!
This is possibly the best pair of socks I've ever owned. My feet are not kind to socks. I wear a size US 12.5 (or 13, depending on brand) shoe/boot. This puts me at the upper range of what size feet most "large" socks claim to fit. Throw in the fact that my big toes have toenails that point slightly up even when trimmed short, and I usually end up with holes through the toe end of my socks in short order. The heels won't line up right and/or the sock will be stretched so tight my tienails wear through the toe end quickly. These Carhartts come in size 11-15, which puts my feet right in the middle of their size range. The heels of the socks line up with my heels, and my toes aren't constantly trying to punch through the toe end of the sock. The calves of the socks also stay on my calves! This may seem like basic stuff but I have found very few other boot socks that actually fit well. These socks are also very warm. I literally wore them for 48 hours straight on a cold camping trip and my feet were comfy the whole time. Days were about 40 degrees F and evenings were about 30 degrees F, and all I had on my feet were these socks and some non-insulated hiking boots. It got down to 19 degrees the first night and despite only having a 40 degree rating on my sleeping bag, my feet stayed warm all night long. I can't say exactly how long these socks will hold up, but they are showing less wear than any other socks I've owned at this point. I am ordering another pair or two for sure!

Loved these all winter! When it gets to -30C they might not be quite warm enough, but 0 to -20C they're awesome.
