5 Star Knife at this price...
I bought this knife with the intention to take the key ring off and put a neck chain on to wear as a neck knife. This knife is a suitable size for wearing on the neck and hides well under a shirt. I think it is a bit big for my preference to use as a key chain knife in the pocket, however the key ring would be very well suited to attaching to a back pack strap for outdoor excursions. I am not generally a fan of serrated edge blades, but this blade is sharp and the serrations are very aggressive. It will not slow slice through paper well, but a good flick of the wrist produces a very clean slice of paper. The front edge, approx 1/4 inch is not serrated, but is a single bevel and works well for scoring. The blade is made in Japan, although this may not mean much, at least it is probably better quality than a lot of blades made else where (ie china, taiwan, etc.). This blade is well worth the amazon price ($18.02 when I bought it) and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend who wants a good quality utility knife that you can be rough on. I would not use this as a defensive blade except in dire circumstances as it is just too small. I would not recommend this blade at the MSRP of $29.99, though I do feel that Cold Steel makes quality products. At the price I paid I rate this a 5 star knife as you will find it difficult to get anything better.

Small but sharp. Light weight and comes in handy.

Good all around!
I needed a small general-use blade for times when it's too inconvenient to lug my Leatherman around. I chose this over some other small blades, and so far am delighted with my choice. Like all Cold Steel blades, the quality is excellent. The checkered Kraton grip is comfortable to hold and grips well. This is about a 2.5 finger grip for me, but the handle shape and composition makes it easy for me to hold and use. They seem to have put some thought into safety. The grip is tapered: wider at the pommel, narrower just under the guard, which (for me) makes it easier to hold on to. The guard is comparatively wide, and gives me enough assurance that my fingers will not slip up onto the blade. I turned down other small blades because they did not have the kind of handle the Super Edge has. The Secure-Ex sheath is good quality, and looks like it can take a beating. When you insert the knife it snaps around the guard and holds it tight. You have to give it a definite and deliberate tug to remove it. Again, a good safety feature, and one that should last a while. In spite of the above, the Super Edge is light. So light I can hardly tell that I'm holding it, in fact. And, finally, the blade is *sharp*! Out of the box it could shave the hair off my arm without any difficulty. It zips cleanly and easily through cardboard, paper, plastic packaging, and an assortment of fruits and vegetables. Overall, I really don't have any complaints. It's light, sharp, easy to hold and use, and has (in my opinion) good safety features. Based on my experience, this would make a good all around take-anywhere blade for daily use, or a good addition to the emergency kit, tackle box, etc.

Received with deformation
Seems to be a good knife for what I'll be using it for my only complaint is it was sent to me with a small roll at the edge. I haven't used it for anything yet other than testing sharpness on paper. If a brand new product is sent to me with any defect whatsoever I have to question the integrity of the product I received and the commitment of the supplier to give me a quality product. Very small deformation but I take my tools seriously. I expected the cutting edge of the blade I received to be flawless but it's not and I'm questioning wether or not the steels strong enough to hold an edge after I cut a few bands with it.

Diminutive Dagger
As far as small knives go, this is readily apparent to be very well-made. Although I don't normally care for serrated edges on knives, it was a wise move by Cold Steel to give the Super Edge a good set of teeth. This packs a lot of cutting power into a tiny package while still having a little smooth edge at the tip. A good edge is nothing without a good handle, though, and there the Super Edge still has a good footing. The deeply-checkered Kraton (as described by CS) is indeed deeply checkered. It feels like a hard rubber and gives a very stable hold. The flared and and serviceable guard also lend to giving the Super Edge a surprisingly good grip despite its small size. There's also a hole through the end with which one could affix a length of para-cord or a key ring if one was so inclined. A lanyard could be attached there if that was your prerogative, but doing so could compromise the role of the knife. Now the sheath, this is a problem. In most ways it is fine. It holds the knife very securely while still allowing an easy removal. It has six holes which can be used to lash it to your belt, your gear, or yourself. But it also has issue in that the blade rubs on the inside of the sheath upon insertion and removal. One may have to press the knife on the dull side against the inside of the sheath to minimize the edge's scoring of the sheath. A video review on YouTube lead me to believe this problem is not exclusive to my personal Super Edge, but also that it doesn't affect all of them. It might happen with yours, it might not. Either way it is not a deal-breaker, and it in no way compromises the usefulness of the knife. That being said, the method of carrying any given knife is as important as the knife itself, and I must take off a star for this. The flared opening with which the blade is inserted to the sheath is fairly large, which makes the overall package a bit wider than it would otherwise be and you may have to play with the length of your cord if you intend to hang it under a tee shirt. Polo shirts, dress shirts, and jackets would present no issue. It's also somewhat difficult to fit a strand of para-cord through the small holes. I advise cutting your cord at a sharp angle to more easily thread, then do a second cut and melt after it's through. Minor issues aside, there's a lot of knife packed into the small size of the Super Edge and it would be a worthy addition to a car's glove box, an every-day carry system, or hanging around your office as a simple letter-opener. Also, technically speaking, it's not a dagger as referenced in the review title, as it has only a single edge.

Cold Steel, so it's a pretty good quality knife in a secure sheath. The serrations keep a good edge for a long time but are a bit more difficult to sharpen. Overall a super handy little knife.
