In one terrifying moment, civilization crumbled. An outbreak of insanity swept across the planet, turning millions of people into the homicidal maniacs known as “the Crossed.” But from their isolated horse ranch, the Pratt family of North Carolina remain uninfected and defiant. Bonded together as generations of working, living, and learning together, they rely on Joe, the family patriarch, to see them through the apocalypse. But the Pratt family has a deep, dark secret – one that threatens to tear them apart, even under the constant threat of the murderous hordes. See, some men are turned to Crossed, but others… others are just born evil. Eighteen year-old daughter Adaline will soon discover which breed is worse. David Lapham, the critically acclaimed creator of the gritty STRAY BULLETS series, delivers a tale so twisted, so shocking, it more than earns its place next to the original runaway bestseller, CROSSED VOLUME 1, by superstar writer Garth Ennis! Review: This is very Walking Dead inspired.... - but with the violence level cranked up x10. There is some sick stuff in this series, and this is most definitely not for kids. The cover should alert you to this right off the bat. They let Garth Ennis loose to do his worst and every other writer and artist has done their best to out "YUCK" the previous arc. It's entertaining, I suppose, but there's stuff in here that's just so depraved and gross it's almost a parody at how hard they're trying to shock the audience. Worth checking out I guess. I found the first 2 hardcovers at an LCS for $3 each. And I heard they were going to adapt this for some streaming show or something, so if you want to check it out, you should jump on it becaufse the secondary market will shoot up if the show gets developed. Review: Crossed not for everyone, but GREAT for fans! - This volume of the Crossed series, created by master of dark illustrated literature Garth Ennis (venerated by fans for his stints on established titles such as Punisher, Judge Dredd and The Shadow -- worshipped by fans for his own creations such as the incomparible Preacher, Bloody Mary, The Pro, Jennifer Blood, Stitched, Chronicles of Wormwood and his Eastwood-worthy Streets of Glory) -- lives up to the horrific vision of its creator under the pens of David Lapham and William Christensen, and even goes steps beyond. Survivors of the Crossed epidemic flee with an abusive father while their mother, unable to escape the raid of infected, begins tracking them driven by the madness of torture and sadism which is the Crossed. So, as they do what they must to live under the leadership of the father who raped and beat them -- how much more terrible are the monsters chasing them, and in what form will salvation come -- if at all?

Oh boy!
Finally, a gruesome series that appeals to my deep seeded hatred of the human race! It's an awesome book! I don't know what that other reviewer was saying about this volume having less characterization and more cartoon violence than the first one and blah blah blah... go back to english class and write a book report. This comic had just about everything I can ever want: gore, intense violence, naked boobs, creative ways to mutilate people. It's way better than the first volume. Actually, don't even bother with the first volume. Start with this instead. Faster story, more violence and even some fetus eating. Get it now before Big Mother bans it! Trust me, white women will find a way to make this thing illegal someday.

Strange but captivating
I am trying to work my way through the Crossed collection from the beginning and this one is a bit more twisted than the others I have read. They're all twisted, but this one takes it a but further as it delves into a family situation with a complete douche and how he treats his family. It seems that it took a piece of The Walking Dead and worked it into the storyline. It borrows the governor's love for his daughter and the determination to keep her for as long as he can. Still, once you begin to read, you'll find it hard to put it down.

Great read, Wish there was more!
Great read. This book is not for the squeamish...Contains murder, incest, rape, and tons of graphic violence. This story tries to expand on the human element aside from the gore. I would recommend waiting on the third title because if your like me, you'll sit down and read both books in a few hours. I think this series has great potential and I'm looking forward to more.

and it just drives home the point that no matter how much good one does in the world
True to the title, this volume focuses on the remains of a family and their interpersonal drama after the Crossed epidemic strikes. The main character is well written and I found myself rooting for her, and it just drives home the point that no matter how much good one does in the world, it does not erase certain behaviors which will always be seen as repugnant and never excusable. I really enjoyed this volume.

Horrible and I love it!
These books have been so horrific and I love it! My dirty little desire to read and enjoy! Life and people ain't pretty and this version of the apocalypse is a treat! Don't be put off by the brutality, respect the fact that someone has the balls to delve into such dark territory.

Shockingly Good
If you're looking for a series that will continuously shock you but at the same time holds your attention then Crossed is one of the Best that the comic Book world has to offer. Volume 2 is great in the sense that it explores the lives of a specific family after the Crossed epidemic hits, you see the already strained relationships spiral into much darker areas which is interesting as it truly gives you a grasp of how insane the Crossed universe has started to become. Great book and a real page turner, ordered volume 3 as I started the final issue.
