Irwin Record No.5 Mechanics Vice 5in, 125mm

Nice vice at a bargain price, will last for years to come, the photos as many say don’t match and is some what misleading, neither the less, I am happy 😃 with purchase.

Well made - nice action to the screw. Good size for most workshop applications Well worth paying extra for a Record rather than a far east copy . It will last a lifetime!

Cannot afford an engineers vice and of course this is still expensive. However it is sturdy and well made and vastly superior to the cheap and well abused alternatives on the second hand market. There is I suppose no such thing as a cheap tool......

For the money (bought on a discount) its ok. The closing is a bit notchy, but opens ok. Possibly the end stop causing this. I have some old Record vices circa 1975 and older and this is just not as well made. No oiling point either.

This is an ideal quality vise for my small bench... love it.

To be honest, it appears to be second hand. The packaging was not great, and on the left side mount of the vice, it looks like it has been cut/chipped (see attached pictures of both sides for comparison) I needed the vice quite desperately, and it has mounted up ok and operates ok On a positive it arrived 2 days earlier than expected.

Item arrived on time, good price and quality was as expected for an Irwin Record Product.

Seller should change stock photo of genuine Record to Irwin Record. I was skeptical of getting the vice in the stock photo anyway but it is False advertisement!! Dropped 1 star for this!! The vice No. 4 I got seems robust and able for any heavy work but the Irwins are not built or finished to the Record standard of old. But I am happy with this purchase as the jaws are well machined and cast sufficiently. I was thinking of buying an old 2nd hand Record No. 23 etc but I couldn't justify paying €200+ for one as I wouldn't have the work for it and plus alot of them needed Restoration. I got this vice at a much reduced price so I'm more than happy with this. There are a lot of cheaper vices but they wouldn't be able for much hardships at all. But again change the stock photo to the actual vice you are purchasing!

Étau très robuste, je ne vois rien a redire, a compléter avec une base tournante. Même si la description annonce une clé a tubes il s'agit bien d'un étau.

Record visas are the best on the market. Very strong. Great vise!

Very good vice. The spring that takes up the slack in the jaw is a good feature. I will appreciate the quality long after I forget how much more I paid than others were selling for.
