Shoulder Relief Girth - Dressage

This girth is fantastic. It's really well-made. I love the sturdy English Bridle Leather on the outside with the soft calfskin on the inside. So far the elastic has held up very nicely. I love the keepers above the buckles to prevent the billets from moving too much. It is advertised as a dressage girth, but as you can see I am using it with a monoflap eventing saddle. I didn't notice any stiffness unless people mean the outside of the girth, which it is sturdy and very firm, and I actually like that. My horse is usually a little particular about girths (hates anything neoprene), and you can see she doesn't absolutely need the shoulder relief, but I've noticed a difference in her. It allows the saddle to sit further back, and since she's a huge quarter horse mare (36-37 cm at the withers), it allows a saddle that is a little too narrow to fit more comfortably (still working on getting one that fits!). She never got any rubs of any kind on her elbows (even though she's one of the few horses I've known that gets dry elbows), and it fits her wonderfully. For help with sizing - she's 15.2 - 15.3 hands and is wearing a 30" girth in these photos (yes, she is THAT wide). I could probably go to a 28", but I like how it fits. The first photo we hadn't ridden yet, and by the end of the ride in the second picture it went up a hole on each side. But I love the quality of this girth. It is absolutely fabulous. If you're looking for a very good quality leather girth worth it's price, this is it.

Awesome product! My saddle fitter recommended this girth for my horse, and of course she recommended the more expensive, premium version (can't remember the brand). Found this online - looks and works exactly the same. Made a big difference in the saddle fit and my horse is moving much more freely with this girth, since it brings the saddle further back off the shoulder without changing the saddle position very much. Easy to clean as well, for a leather girth.

Beautiful girth. Quality leather--black looked quite dressy. UNFORTUNATELY, MY HORSE GOT HER HIDE RUBBED OFF BECAUSE HER ELBOWS RUBBED ON THE BUCKLE KEEPERS--AT A WALK ON A 2 HOUR TRAIL RIDE. WHILE RIDING, I KEPT CHECKING at the girth line, and this girth does move the pressure zone away from her armpits--which was the reason for choosing it. When l got off l was just sick to see the new injuries. She is so good, she just moved through the pain. I returned the girth, needless to say. When you try this girth, l advise you to lounge your saddled horse and watch for rubs you would never expect.

The shoulder relief girth fits horses comfortably distributing pressure across the sternum better than a standard girth. It allows for movement in and behind the elbows. My saddle fits great with the shoulder relief girth too! My only regret is that I didn't get one sooner.

If you have a dressage saddle that slides forward, this girth will help with that. Comfortable, well-made, a good purchase for the money. What it will NOT do is remedy a bad-fitting saddle, so don’t use it for that.

Just received it and used it for the first time. Works exactly as advertised. And my horse was definitely more comfortble. He was definitely less bothered when I took off the girth there was no sighing or releasing, as there normally was. I noticed less bunching at his shoulder where it meets the saddle. Really impressed!! Had several people at the barn ask about it.

I give a four star review because this is a well made leather girth that does what it says. It allows ample room for shoulder movement. I would have liked elastic at the buckles to allow for some stretching with movement and when tightening the girth. My TB mare is still having chaffing issues she has had every humid summer with other girths as well due to sweating and folds of skin rubbing with extended trot or canter. I have been told applying Body Glide works well so will add this and still use the girth!

My saddle fitter recommended I get a girth to accommodate my Friesian mare's shoulders to keep the saddle in the right position and off her shoulders. So far I am very pleased with the girth, as the saddle is no longer being pulled too far forward onto her shoulders. She feels more free in her front legs.

Well made with good quality leather . Stops my saddle from slipping forward on my barrel shaped rump high horse .

I absolutely love this girth. So well made and it totally solved my forward girth groove problem.

This is the second girth I have bought. I have the GP and the Dressage. Really nice girths that soften over time and give my big shouldered cob plenty of room to move. Live them.. highly recommended.

Good quality leather, keepers could be spaced further away from the buckles to make it easier to do up.
