Proxxon
Well, I would be here for a couple of days telling how much I love Proxxon tools. I got this mini drill stand for my Proxxon hand tools. Great. I hate to say it but much better than my Dremel stand. I even got the x,y table for it. Handles all my milling needs for building wood ship models.

Excellent but Incorrectly Assembled
Excellent drill stand & press, but incorrectly assembled at the factory. This drill stand is excellent in design and sturdiness. I use it with my Proxxon rotary tool and the Proxxon micro compound table to drill fine holes (1 to 6mm) in stainless steel and aluminum, for building optical mounts and parts. However, there are no assembly or use instructions or diagrams of the internal workings (no info on how to lower drill and then hold it in place; must tighten the open head screw on the edge of the tool holder). Simple enough machine, however, Proxxon ships this from the factory assembled incorrectly. Like all the photos illustrate, the press handle is nearly vertical when the tool is at its highest position. However, this is not correct, because when the handle is attached in this position, the tool attachment (yellow metal piece) cannot descend to its lowest position (which means, you don't get the expected 40-45mm travel). My press could only descend 10mm, until I took it apart to discover why. It is necessary to remove the yellow tool mount (one screw in the front) and rotate the handle clockwise to the 5 o'clock position (this makes the pinion inside rotate to a new position). Then reinsert the yellow tool holder with its rack inserting into the pinion, and try rotating the handle all the forward. Adjust this position until you are able to get the tool holder to descend all the way to the 0-point on the scale with the indicator set at the top (45mm). Then insert the screw and retighten it. You will notice that the plastic ball on the handle will rub slightly against the vertical positioning screw that clamps the body to the rod. You can trim down the ball, or remove it, or live with it. The press will work great! I've explained to Proxxon and sent them numerous pictures to explain that they are assembling it wrong before shipment. They tried to help me understand how to set it, before I and they realized there was this problem. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the future. They thanked me with some free accessories. Very nice to work with them.

Proxxon Tools. Great Value and Great Designs.
Well designed, easily assembled and Accurate!I have switched over to Primarily using PROXXON TOOLS for all my needs, they feel good in my hands, and they have POWERFUL motors!I use this drill stand to both Drill and by tilting the head, as a "Stationary" tool holder. My Only desire NOW, is a 20mm round bar to use to bring the head back to 90 degrees with little effort! an 1/8th inch rod is what I use, but there is not a good length to really do it accurately.

Decent
Is pretty good for a small tool like the proxxon. I do not know if I would trust it to run solid carbide PCB drills, but it is close. Was totally effective in use for some precision gunsmithing, but it is not a milling machine. If you need a mill, you need to buy a mill.

Extreme bad design from Proxxon
Extreme bad design from ProxxonI guess my unit was DOA (Dead on Arrival) :- The head only has a 1 cm travel and then gets stuck (it should according to the specs have a 4 cm travel).- The head squeaks all the way down (the small 1 cm travel...)- Then the head gets stuck and does not return to zero position- The handle rotates freely (360 degrees and that's wrong)- Their is a huge play in the main handle (the one that allows to press down the drill)But even with a fully functioning unit I see multiple major problems :- The 20mm collar screw handle gets in the way when I lower the press (the black shaft of the handle hits the item I'm try trying to drill in). Another reviewer had the same problem and solved it by retaining the handle with a rubber band. Really Proxxon ?!? C'mon!- The scale ring is a cheap sticker that Proxxon couldn't even glued correctly : it's off centred.- Same think with the "needle" that indicated the degrees of angle of the tilting head : it's a cheap sticker that has been glued off-centred. So forget about precision!- The "slider" on the table, when screwed, is off by a good 1/16 off an inch. Again, forget about precision. This is a disastrous product by Proxxon. I returned mine next day I got it. So do NOT buy this MB 200 Stand!!!I have their KT 70 Compound Table, their CNC machined steel precision vise and their suction sup vise made out of zinc. I love those 3 products from Proxxon. A bit too expensive at regular price though, but great when on sale on Amazon. Superb quality and very high precision. But their MB 200 Drill Stand is a catastrofic item from those guys. Did Proxxon outsource the design of that drill stand to China to end up with such a design failure?!?
