SKS Chainbow Chainguard: Black 48T,199mm/48T

Ok for a bit of plastic its clearly not cheap is it but I have to say it fits well and it does look smart. I have a 3 ring frt crank, largest 48t and didn't need to make a cut out for the front derailleur but there is one you can push out if you need to. Does sit a couple of inches above the chain at the middle and rear, ok at front, so not an exact custom fit if you like but obviously it keeps your trouser leg away from the chain so does the job. Strong feeling but lightweight so doesn't add hardly any weight.

Not so universal after all - I too had to cut it down to size (like another reviewer here) to fit the frame. Used a pair of tin snips which worked just fine. I had to try various combinations of the included fittings for it to attach without the chain rubbing against the included nuts. Other than the faff of fitting it, this is very well made and works as expected.

I bought two of these for our commuter/shopping/pub bikes. We just want to wear normal clothes on these trips and not worry about greasy trouser legs. We bought cheaper Hebie chainguards that lasted about 3 months before the plastic was cracked around the mounting points. Utterly useless for bikes like these that have a hard life in the city! I should have got the more expensive SKS Chainboards in the first place, after 11 months use they are still perfect, having taken all the knocks daily use throws at them. Buy cheap, buy twice as they say! I should have listened to my own advice. Fitting is reasonably easy if you have the tools(you need a crank removal tool and a bottom bracket tool). If you don't have the tools, inclination or aptitude then pay your bike shop, it is well worth it to have a bike that you can just jump on and go without worry. Like the SKS mudguards, these chain guards are most probably the very best available.

Well made and relatively easy to fit. BUT you do need the necessary tools and skills to remove and replace the bottom bracket. It’s a bit pricey for a bit of injection moulded plastic and a couple of thin steel components, but it does the job well. There are several sizes, depending on the diameter of your chain ring. Make sure you order the right size. Unfortunately the product information isn’t especially clear in this regard. I made my choice based on judgement and experience. Luckily I managed to buy the right one. I would recommend this product, just be aware of the above points.

This one is my second purchase. I had fitted it on my road bike. Recently, I crashed my bike and so broke the chain guard. It's light weight, easy to install and saves your trousers.

Seen better ones

Nice well made adjustable in length chain guard. Removing bottom bracket is necessary to fit front bracket which will require a tool or bicycle mechanic.

Upgraded my crank set from 48 to 53 teeth and it still fit. Had to adjust the horizontal position to prevent the cover screws from hitting the chain.

Nachdem ich in einer Werkstatt erfahren habe, dass es keine passenden Teile für den Kettenschutz gibt ( 10 Jahre altes Stevens) gibt, habe ich diese Chainbow gefunden: Es passt, es hat sehr gute Qualität und es sieht auch gut aus. Bin sehr zufrieden und empfehle das Produkt 100-% !!!
