It arrived quickly, and my very hot poodle absolutely loves it, however it does pierce. It leaked but was easily fixed with duct tape. I made pretty much a giant pillowcase for it(yay sewing) and you can still feel the cool through it and its been cold for hours now.Its about 10lbs, but will definitely be a part of our everyday summer working gear for long settles in the heat.

I ordered this for my 200 pound 10.5 year old English mastiff who stays hot alot especially at night. Even with a ceiling fan, floor fan and a.c. on low she would be hot. The size of the pad is great for her. No issues there.The first night it was nice and cool and she went right to sleep. However, that lasted about 4 hours and then she woke me up panting. When i checked the cooling pad it resembled a heating pad. It seemed to have absorbed her body heat. I pulled it out from under her and laid it on the floor next to her bed. Because it's the wee morning hours I just don't have 15-20 mins for the pad to recool. So now when she goes to bed at night, I position the pad so that she is only laying on 1/2 of it. Then when/if she gets hot, I can just turn the mat around and kind of tuck it under her or she ends up on the other 1/2 by rolling over. This seems to work fine for us. I might order a 2nd one so that I always have one cool and ready. The moral of the story is, if you want something that stays cool non-stop, this pad is not for you. I'm glad I bought it because it truly does get nice and cool and she seems to like it. Update: We've had this for about a month now and I noticed it started leaking. I looked all over for a puncture hole, but didn't find one. It appears to be leaking from the seam on the top. Really disappointed. Back to the search for another.

The media could not be loaded.  My only regret is that I did not buy this month’s ago. I have a 15 year old Lab. She is always hot. She paces, panting, and uncomfortable. It got worse as she got older. She is on quite a bit of pain meds for her arthritis. I would turn on the AC, and put a fan on her. That allowed her to stop panting and sleep. However, she was freezing us out of the house. I actually got on Amazon to search for a cool gel dog bed, but after reading the reviews about these self cooling pads, decided to purchase a couple. It’s changed the entire atmosphere in the house. We have a pad on her bed in the bedroom and one on her bed in the living room. I have had them for a week, and even with the heat on to keep me warm, she has not budged once. She lives on these pads. She isn’t panting and sleeps more soundly. I feel the coolness has definitely helped with her arthritis too. She gets up a little bit easier. She was so uncomfortable, but these pads have changed everything. I posted a video. She was sleeping so hard, she was running in her dreams, something this old gal has not done in a very long time.

This mat is awesome! I live in south Louisiana where our heat index reaches over 100 degrees most days with an actual temp in the high 90's. I used the mat this weekend outside first. My little fat rascal loved it! She is 8 years old, female min-pin, weighing in at a whooping 14 pounds. This mat kept her cool while we enjoyed our day outdoors. I usually put a wet towel under our trees out back while we are in the pool and she would keep cool like that but this mat does not need to be wet. So, last night, when we went back indoors, I layed the mat in the living room next to her bed. Well, she again, stayed on the mat. My cats were intriged by it as well, and I caught one of them napping on it this morning. So, needless to say, it's well liked in the fur community. I would recommend this mat to anyone. I stood on it just to see for myself and low and behold, it is indeed pressure activated. The size of the mat is true to what's on the box. Would work great for a small to medium sized pet. Well worth the investment made.

So first, this mat is pretty awesome.... but within a couple weeks there was a hole. Our dog didn't even chew on it (we watch him like a hawk) and we only let him use it when we are around. We patched the first hole with no problem, couple days later another one appeared. Patched again, couple days later there is a giant gash in it and its now leaking like a poked pig. Only thing we can think that's causing it is his nails, which are not very sharp. If this was more durable I would totally give it the full 5 stars! Our pup loved it!

I like this product a lot. I know it is intended for pets, but I got this for my niece who has Cerebral Palsy. She attends college and uses an electric wheelchair to get from building to building (because of the long distances). She also uses her wheelchair for a lot of other things. In the summer, she can get quite hot sitting in her chair. This mat will help to keep her cooler. So far she hasn't used it because I haven't had it for very long, but just having it around the house until I get it to her, the mat has stayed pretty cool. The cover is very durable, which I appreciate because we do have a pet at home and she has one at school. The stuff inside is non-toxic which I really like because all kinds of things can happen with pets and small children. The collapsing bowl that comes with it is really handy too. I can use it for taking my cat to the vet (treats=bribery) or water for her, collapse it and then store in the glove department box.

My puppy's sharp teeth cut several holes in this cooling pad literally within a minute of laying it down for him. He's an Akita pup and we live in Florida so he loves laying on the air vents and I was hoping to put this cooling pad in his crate. But it definitely doesn't stand up to the sharp teeth of a puppy or any dog that likes to chew and bite. At least it's made of non-toxic materials so I didn't have to freak out about the gel oozing out and my puppy eating some of it. The company asked me to leave a review. I wrote them back explaining what happened and that I really didn't think it was their fault but perhaps they should mention that this isn't going to work for puppies or dogs that like to chew or bite a lot. They have once again asked me to leave a review so here it is. I do not recommend this unless your dog is a bit older and doesn't chew or bite on new things.
