This is an exceptional guide to help leaders, emerging leaders and -- particularly -- STEM leaders and professionals to develop Executive Presence. What the author, Joel Garfinkle, does so well is that he lays the framework for what Executive Presence is and why it is essential, providing a clear road map to develop EP. There is a workbook format to reflect on one’s Executive Presence capabilities, and detailed insights, suggestions, and tips to improve and develop where needed. In the work and research that my company does, we find that many STEM and women leaders lack Executive Presence due to their personality risks under stress, so this book is ideal to help them gain the “gravitas, authority and expression” they need to rise to the top. It is also valuable to those who are over-the-top with their confidence, to reign it in effectively to succeed. I highly recommend this outstanding book!

I've been looking for ways to develop my team members so I can be more effective. I can work with them on the technical issues of our industry, but I was lacking the tools to help them be more persuasive and impactful. I appreciated the author's rigorous identification of the components of executive presence because that helps me identify the development areas in my team that were previously amorphous. It's one thing to say a team member lacks executive presence. It's another to tell them 1) the specific areas they can focus on to improve, and 2) what other leaders consider to be important areas for them to focus on. This book is as much an insightful read as it is a reference tool to incorporate into an individual's longer-term development plan.
