★★★★★ Perfect Upgrade for Tesla Dashcam, Sentry Mode — and Steam Gaming in the Car
I picked up the Samsung T9 1TB Portable SSD to replace the stock USB drive in my Tesla Model S. Not only is it a massive upgrade for Dashcam and Sentry Mode, but it’s also fast and spacious enough to store and run Steam games directly in the Tesla. 🚗 Tesla Use – Dashcam & Sentry Mode: Instantly recognized by the car after formatting. No more "USB too slow" warnings — it handles Tesla’s multi-camera recording without breaking a sweat. Reliable and fast, even after hours of recording. Stays cool and stable — no overheating issues. 🎮 Steam in the Tesla: Plenty of space to store a bunch of games. Load times are quick and smooth when launching Steam titles in the car. Perfect for road trips, charging stops, or just showing off what your car can do. Finally — a single drive that handles both Tesla features and in-car gaming. 📦 Build & Quality: Rugged, rubberized body that feels premium. Compact enough to fit in the glovebox or console without clutter. Comes with a sturdy USB-C cable — no flimsy connectors here. 🎯 Final Verdict: If you want one drive that does it all — records Dashcam and Sentry Mode footage and lets you game in your Tesla — the Samsung T9 is it. Fast, reliable, and spacious. It’s the upgrade your Tesla didn’t know it needed.

Blazing Fast Easy to set up, Grab and Go, Massive Size
I purchased a new desktop and within 2 weeks filled the SSD so needed another one. Found this T9 from Samsung. I did try the Samsung Magician software but in the end went thru the computers disk manager which works great. Very surprised by its compact size, weight and quality. I had 1 usbc 3.2 on my computer and using this for the SSD. I have transferred all my Steam Games to the SSD, every easy and quick process at blazing fast speeds. This freed up my internal SSD for work items. I purchased an Amazon return that was reported to be like new and it was like new and the 4TB is the way to go for price to size. I have 578 games on Steam and will be able to install most if not all on this SSD for grab and go playing as well as desktop use at home. Recommended.

Very fast - great for video editing
Great SSD. Fast enough to edit 5 camera multicam videos shot in ProRes from it with ease. I tried a SanDisk SSD before trying this because it was cheaper, and it was defective. Didn't love the price tag on the T9, but it's already proving to be worth it, and it's still not a terrible value. Otherwise, it's super small and seems pretty durable

Solid feel, great quality materials. Very fast data transfer.
It feels very premium. Works very fast. The Locking App sucks, though, so if you are into those safety features, this is not very useful. I tried to use those features a long time ago and I'm just not used to it nor interested, so I deleted it. They do send updates to those features so maybe nowadays it works better. Anyways, for the sake of storage and transfering fiels, it is very fast and reliable. I study Geography and go to plenty of academic Field trips, whichs puts a lot of stress on all my devices, including sand, extreme humidity, a lot of shake from the bus and even falling to the ground inside a not very protective bag, and I can tell by just holding it in my hand, this SSD it is not going to get damaged so easily.

Great overall but cable sucked and had to get new cable
This ssd works great for long HD recordings and transferring files fast. Its size is really small, i wasnt expecting it to be so small. Its a little more complicated to use than just plugging it in. You need to use an app that it comes with called samsung magician to have full access to your drive. Would've given this 5 stars if the cable wasnt faulty. Had to buy a new cable cause the one it came with would have poor connection and would wiggle a lot.

Despite its slightly higher price point, the Samsung T9 offers an unparalleled value proposition
I tested the Samsung T9 Portable SSD extensively and found it to be an outstanding choice for professionals who need consistent high-speed performance for large file transfers, video editing, and backups. Unlike many drives that show fast speeds in short bursts but then slow down, the T9 consistently maintains over 1500 MB per second during continuous transfers. This makes it highly practical for workflows involving large 4K video files or heavy photo libraries without having to worry about throttling during long backups or editing sessions. The build quality is another strong point. With an aluminum core and a rubberized exterior, the T9 feels durable and premium while also providing drop resistance up to three meters. It is compact and easy to carry, making it a practical tool for creators who travel or frequently switch between workstations. Samsung’s Magician software adds real value with features like firmware updates, performance benchmarks, drive health monitoring, and AES 256-bit hardware encryption management. These tools make it easy to maintain the drive and ensure data security across Windows, macOS, and Android systems. The T9 also comes with a five-year limited warranty, providing confidence for long-term professional use. During my testing on systems that fully support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, the T9 achieved read and write speeds above 1800 MB per second, maximizing productivity for high-volume workflows. There are some limitations to consider. Random and small file performance is average compared to some competitors like the Crucial X10 Pro or SanDisk Extreme Pro V2, particularly under heavy mixed workloads. Additionally, macOS does not support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, so the T9 operates at around 950 MB per second on Macs, offering similar speeds to the T7 rather than its full potential. Despite these limitations, the Samsung T9’s combination of high sustained transfer speeds, reliable durability, software support, encryption features, and a solid warranty makes it a highly practical and dependable choice for professionals. Its price is slightly higher, but for users prioritizing consistent performance, cross-platform support, and brand trust, the T9 remains one of the best portable SSDs available today.

I’ve owned several portable SSDs over the years, but the SAMSUNG T9 1 TB is on a completely different level. From the moment I unboxed it, the premium rubberized shell and sleek, textured design signaled this drive means business—and it absolutely delivers. Lightning-quick performance Using the included USB-C cable (USB 3.2 Gen 2 × 2, 20 Gbps), I consistently see real-world transfer speeds flirting with 2,000 MB/s. Copying a 25 GB 4K video project that used to take minutes now finishes in seconds. Whether I’m editing directly from the drive in Premiere Pro, backing up RAW photos, or off-loading PS5 games, the T9 never breaks a sweat. Rock-solid reliability & cool temps Samsung’s Dynamic Thermal Guard keeps the chassis surprisingly cool—no thermal throttling, even during sustained 100 GB transfers. The shock-resistant casing (up to 3 m drop protection) gives me confidence tossing it into my camera bag without a second thought. Plug-and-play everywhere It mounted instantly on my MacBook Pro, Windows desktop, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and even my PlayStation 5. The bundled USB-C-to-A cable is a lifesaver for older ports, and Samsung Magician software makes firmware updates and health checks effortless. Featherweight & travel-ready At about the size of a credit card and barely heavier than a couple of AA batteries, it slips into any pocket. The grippy exterior means no slippery juggling act when I’m on set or working in tight spaces. Worth every penny Yes, it’s a bit pricier than no-name drives, but you’re paying for top-tier speed, peace-of-mind durability, and Samsung’s legendary reliability. For anyone who juggles large files, edits video, or just wants bulletproof backup on the go, the T9 is a no-brainer. Bottom line: Blistering transfers, rugged build, silent operation—this is hands-down the best portable SSD I’ve ever used. I’m already eyeing a second one for redundant backups. Highly, highly recommended!

Looks good and performs well. I wish I could have afforded the 4TB. The case is robust, and the shape and size perfect. Migrating from the horrible alter world of HDD (most of which destroyed my valuable data), I am only sorry I did not buy these sooner. Sure, I waited months for the Black Friday sales, but it was well worth the wait. I also have some T7s, which are not as good, and tend to lose their connecting cable. The T9 will be my future proofing of valuable data.
