Excellent quality at a fair price
I'd just had all my kitchen knives professionally sharpened and needed a steel to keep them honed. I chose this one for two reasons: first, it's made by Victorinox, a brand I trust (I have 3 of their knives) and secondly it's a good length. Not too long, but long enough for my largest, 10", knife. Well made, substantial without being too heavy, and it hasn't got a pointed tip which means you can use it held vertically on a board without it damaging the board.

Great price and works well
Keeps my knives nice and sharp between sharpening and you can feel the difference instantly as you use it. Usually use right before cutting meat or vegetables and brongs back that razor edge.

Standard sharpener
The sharpener does the job. Isn't obviously the best one in the world but for that reasonable price I don't think you'd find anything better. Victorinox is a good brand.

Makes a difference
Recently my son dropped my 20-year old ceramic sharpening steel on the floor, shattering it. Oh well, I didn't feel it did all that much anyways and figured it was a good excuse to get a new one. I settled on this one because I'm a big fan of the Victorinox kitchen knives and trust the brand. Also it's not made in China for a change. Anyways, the difference between this and my old steel is like night and day. You can feel the slightly rough edge doing its work as you slide the knife along its edge. The knife will come out with a very noticeably sharper edge. I know it's only a 'honing steel' but if it doesn't actually sharpen than this is the next best thing. I should have bought this years ago.

Good quality, affordable honing rod from a reputable brand
I have recently invested in some high quality knives, so with that comes learning how to sharpen them with a whetstone and honing rod. I chose this Victorinox honing rod as it's a reputable Swiss brand. The honing rod came well packaged, has a good weight to it and feels high quality. It has done the job of maintaining my knive blades so far. Honing rods are *not* for sharpening, as some people think. They are for maintaining the straightness of the blade and ever so slightly taking a bit of the blade off to keep it sharp, but you can't use it on its own to sharpen a blade. It'd be like trying to use very fine grit sandpaper to sand down a piece of wood, you'd be there forever. I use the honing rod every time or every few times I cook and it seems to keep my blades in good condition. The handle has a hook for hanging off something which is also handy, but I keep it in a drawer as I don't like utensils out where they can get dirty or greasy quickly from cooking.
