Nice picture and sound
My first Show device. Good picture and sound quality. Ideal as stand alone or integrated into home management security and entertainment system. Not yet scratched the surface of its capability but a nice handy size clock, picture frame, infotainment centre and general Alexa product.

Excellent value for money, good addition to Alexa family of devices .
Fantastic buy, bought with stand good price for both. Sound is superb, great for use in my kitchen where I do my art projects. Can use built in apps or search the web using the built in browser. Use voice yo control sound etc, and screen big enough to watch a movie and not feel like missing anything, very happy .

Nice device and very useful.
Sound is nice and full at moderate to loud volumes but (as with most speakers except Bose) becomes quite thin as low volumes. Not a major criticism as generally expected and does fill a room when louder. Why did I buy this? I am working with Echo multi-speaker to try and give me a Sonos-like function. I gave connected Echo Dots to stereo amps and power amps as well as an Echo Plus and this Echo Show. It is brilliant to have the same music playing in 4 rooms, my workshop and BBQ area! Plus the Show displays the album artwork. I’m probably not really using its main function of a GUI and display but so far it’s a nice addition to my hone setup. The screen is nice but the touch controls are not quite as sophisticated as an iPad. For the price it’s very good.

Like having a personal assistant, jukebox, and TV crammed into one smart little box
The Echo Show 8 has quickly become the MVP of my home. The HD touchscreen is sharp and bright—perfect for video calls, recipes, or watching cat videos when I should be working. The spatial audio is surprisingly powerful too; it fills the room like a proper speaker rather than “just another gadget.” Setup was ridiculously simple—plug it in, say hello to Alexa, and suddenly you’re running a smart home command centre from the kitchen counter. Lights, cameras, reminders, shopping lists—it does it all, and it makes me feel way more organised than I actually am. The Glacier White finish looks sleek and modern, and the size is just right: big enough to be useful, small enough not to hog the space. Between the daily weather updates, music streaming, and cheeky timers while cooking, it’s basically the multitasking friend I never knew I needed. If you want something that entertains, organises, and bosses your smart home around, this little screen does it in style.

Good box, unreliable system.
OK, I'm giving a one-star review so lets start by talking about just the Echo Show device itself. As a piece of electronic hardware, it is solid and reliable. I think it looks OK, sounds OK and has a good screen. So what's my beef? 1) I hate the adds, I've almost turned them all off but in order to do that, I had to turn everything else off too. i.e. no cycling through family photos, weather pages etc. I've literally got my Echo Show just showing the time. If any alert comes up (doorbell, reminder etc.) then I still get ads. 2) The camera doorbell display works great in theory but it has to go through the internet. In practice, this means that I have to chase visitors down because they have waited 30 seconds after ringing the doorbell and assumed no one is home. 3) With regard to connecting to other devices, I find that it's quite good if you like your devices randomly disconnecting and requiring a re-install of the 'skill' that interfaces between Alexa and the device. Every Alexa 'skill' I've installed so far (only about four) has one or two star reviews because they just don't work reliably. My Eufy vacuum cleaner worked great for a while but now I just can't get it to reconnect. My TV connectivity works most of the time. Lights and mains switches seem to be fairly reliable. 4) Privacy is a real problem. Alexa says she's not spying on you, she's lying. Use Youtube videos to go through a bunch of steps that reduce the spying to a minimum. e.g. You'll discover recording's of all your Alexa commands. Apparently this is necessary for speech training. Really? Well I turned it off and speech recognition works fine without it. I bought Alexa and a bunch of compatible devices in one go before reading around. Please don't make the same mistake. Having now read around, Home Assistant seems to be the way to go. I'm still on Alexa for now though :-(

Had previously owned an echo. But the Echo 8 totally exceeds it. Great sound. I use it for recipes, very convenient to be able to see ingredients and instructions on the screen. Would definitely recommend.
