I tried three different sets of batteries in this flashlight and it never worked. The construction is very cheap plastic. Putting in the batteries requires taking out the entire flashlight assembly including the LED bulbs as it is one complete piece. I'm returning it to Amazon for a refund.================================================Update on 9/20/2012Since another reviewer posted a ridiculously positive review of this light, I'd like to refer potential buyers to product reviews by other Amazon customers for ThinkTank products that they purchased:A ThinkTank laptop desk shows 2/3rds of all ratings being mostly 1-star and a few 2-stars. Pay no attention to Gagnons review, this is an absolutely ingenious design. The engineer who created this light literally thought of everything. The flashlight works great: beam dispersion is very good with the three LEDs providing a uniform field of illumination with no 'segmentation' which is problematic in other multi-LED flashlights; the lantern works great with the translucent shield buffering the otherwise super bright LEDs to a reasonable level so they do not hurt your eyes and it produces precisely the correct amount of light to illuminate your tent or camp table without wrecking your night vision or annoying dark-adapted eyes, and the nightlight is a terrific bonus, providing long-lasting low-level illumination...useful as a night light or a beacon so you can find your tent/campsight, seat, etc by leaving it. Also, they put a thick rubber bumper around the flashlight end to protect from shock and serve as a non-skid base for the lantern, a slick, multi-function elastic strap which you can re-configure by disconnecting the tang and clipping it on the lantern end to make a wrist lanyard, hand-grip band, or dangle hook (purely ingenious!), and the flashlight control button is rubber covered and easy to find in the dark, thanks to a bumpy plastic grip which is perfectly placed to find by feel with your thumb. Also, changing the batteries works great, because the entire 'light emitting element' of this multi purpose camp light drops out into your hand by unscrewing the rubber clad flashlight end just like a screw-cap. Makes it so easy to change the batteries. I can't imagine how Mr. Gagnon could possibly find this function as a bad idea!I am a life-long design engineer who owns a mechanical engineering/product development/manufacturing firm and I think this thing is one of the coolest, most well thought out designs I have ever seen in my entire career. If it holds up under heavy use and lasts for years, this will be, in my opinion, the best light design of it's size (it's not super bright to be sure, only I think 9 lumens, but it is perfectly sized for it's intended use) that I have ever seen. I'd give it six stars it I could. PS, I have no affiliation whatsoever with the mfg. of this device...I merely appreciate truly excellent design engineering when I see it.

Got this as a gift doesnt work at all. Vety disappointed

Almost perfect, a little bulky but works great.
