Van Vliet School Chalks Mint Liquorice 1 Kg

These are so moreish. They are basically a firm mint fondant inside a liquorice square wrapped around it then a soft mint candy shell. The mint is a gentle taste and totally enhances the liquorice. I cannot believe they don’t sell these on the aisles in British supermarkets as they’d be so popular. Lekker sweets and great value. No need to worry about giving them a use by date, as they will be gone quicker than next week

I had never heard of School Chalks until I bought a tiny bag of them in my local shop, as I love liquorice. Loved them, so then found these. And they are SO good!! In fact, too good, I can't stop eating them. Good job it's a huge bag, although it's dwindling fast! They reminded me at first of looking like large liquorice torpedoes - but these are so much better! They are obviously thicker. The coating isn't as hard, is only slightly crispy. And the centre is just slightly softer, enclosed in a liquorice layer. For those who aren't sure whether to buy because of the mint flavouring, it's not over-powering or like eating an actual mint. I can't explain it, but the flavours just kinda go together and the mint flavour just enhances the liquorice flavour, to make a gorgeous strong liquorice taste. I would say that if you love liquorice, you will LOVE these!

These are a hard but thin sugar shell (with no flavour) around a soft thin licorice tube (which granted has a strong salty licorice flavour) with a crumbly mint middle, more like a cream. Not at all what I was expected. Its not a unpleasant flavour if you like that sort of thing, but I was expecting it to be solid licorice with a mint shell, so not really what I was looking for.

Nice minty, crunchy outside and soft liquorice on the inside. My only problem would be the price - have since bought it cheaper elsewhere.

Having read the reviews I thought I'd made a big mistake but exactly the opposite. They have a crisp coating with a nice soft liquorice inside. I hate salt so was concerned but no taste of salt at all. If you like liquorice then give them a go you won't be disappointed. I will certainly be buying again.

First tasted these when in Germany. Loved them then found that Amazon sold them. Oh my God bought them straight away to see if they were the same. They were so good. One warning though if like me you like liquorice be ready to not be able to stop.
