Awesome Looking And Not Childish. Very Challenging
A lot of the book nook pirate themed kits are childish. This one is not. It's stunning with beautifully painted finishes and realistic cut outs.Pros: The directions have shaded diagrams for front/back. For the most part it's easy to understand. Most kits do not and you spend forever figuring it out. The attention to details is fantastic. The stairs, the decks, treasure chests, the pirates and the walls, inside and out. Everything punches out without problems and aligns perfectly. Parts are easy to find and you aren't searching through the sets looking for pieces.Cons: The pieces fit very tightly and there are a LOT of pieces to this kit. This is a challenging kit and needs a lot of patience because of the tight fit. Nothing broke and I eventually got the tabs in. I had to rage quit a couple of times though. Trying to get the staircases connecting to the next floor and the side walls were a source of rage quiting. This is an amazing kit and once you get the hang of how the pieces work it is tons of fun. Don't let the tight fit drive you crazy.

Get a different brand
This deserves zero stars. We decided to have a family night and all have book nooks we ordered. This is such a waste. We couldn’t do this. Instructions are crap. It doesn’t even say how to attach the lights. My daughter was so disappointed. I’m about a week past my refund date so I’m out my money. All the other brand book books we got are awesome! DONT BUY THESE!

Son loves putting things together and loved the details that come with it would not recommend for small children because it it very hard for them to put together

Cute but very advanced and very tiny.
This was so cute! But, extremely difficult. The size is so tiney it was extremely difficult to assemble. Also it seemed that the piece hade the ability to be displayed open which is possible but kind of falls apart if you do so. The last few steps wrapping the book with the foam and fabric was awkward and messy and oversized. Directions were hard to read small and dark. That said it was super cute. The wooden kits are much better quality and easier to assemble. Try the Harry Potter kit.

Be Prepared
When this thing is finished, it looks amazing. First book nook kit I've done. HOWEVER, this will take you a while. I recommend having wire cutters, several craft tweezers, superglue and craft glue stick, exacto knives and blades and cutting surface, and optional but helped me a ton is a magnifying table lamp. If you have all of that, you should be fine, but at MINIMUM super glue and tweezers because some of this stuff is TINY and you won't be able to put it together unless you have childs hands. This is a huge project for such a tiny size. I was not expecting as much fine cutting as this is paper images as opposed to stickers like a lot of kits. It took me about 8 hours over the course of a few days, but did have good instructions. If you keep track of pieces and LEAVE THEM IN THE BAGGIES, then you should be fine. This is not a kids project so I would not recommend this for anyone under the age of 12 I think.

adorable kit
a very cute kit, even has extras of some of the smaller and easy to loose pieces. it does come with sand paper but i found i didn't need it, things just fit into place perfectly. if anything i think i only needed to use glue twice in this project. if you're intimidated by the LEDs and wiring, don't be, its all pre-wired. you just need to plug things in to where they go.i finished this in 4 or so hours and it looks as cute as advertised. good for if you're experienced with wood puzzles.

instructions not well written
I hemmed and hawed about returning this or just challenging myself to put it together despite poor instructions (see photo for example of the instructions). Had the price not been close to $40 I probably would have kept it, but I feel like at that price point you should expect clear instructions at least and all listed parts to be provided. The premise is cute and the little birdhouses etc would have been fun to put together. As other reviews have mentioned it is supposed to have glue included (labeled white latex) but does not, and from what I can tell a lot of glue is required.I have made two other brands of book nooks that have been excellent and I would compare to a challenging puzzle for people who like detail and intricate work. In comparison, this one (Firefly Forest) is like a prototype that was never developed into a kit. It is what I'd expect if I was designing my own from scratch. Things that could be improved but are not part of this kit are wood pieces that are notched so they fit together securely, clear instructions, adhesive back paper so you don't have to glue large areas and try to keep out the wrinkles. In this kit the wood box appears to be kept together with paper glued around the corners. It requires 3 button shaped batteries but nowhere does it tell you what size. From one of the diagrams it looks like CR44 or something close to that.

Boyfriend loved this puzzle for our 1 year. We built it together
Be careful the parts are all made of wood and you have to punch them out of place. Make sure you don't break any pieces either cause some of the parts are small or thin.My boyfriend loved this as his gift and he wants to collect them all now.We are satisfied! The cat town all the cats are so adorable and small. Thank you for a great product!
