Great and the least expensive option for Remote ID
I'm sure most people like me are frustrated with manufacturers (like DJI) that won't provide firmware for expensive drones to comply with this new law. That being said, I needed a solution and didn't want to pay over $200 just to comply. After checking that this RID module is on the approved FAA list I thought I'd give it a try and wasn't hopeful on quality, etc. but why not. I got the remote ID unit last night and couldn't be more pleased. Setup was fairly simple after downloading the app from the app store. Once I put in the serial number, etc. and restarted the RID unit, I performed a bench test leaving it outside and it started broadcasting and immediately appeared in the Drone Scanner app. There might be a quirk in the firmware as the drone model I put in flashes in and out but that might be me. As far as I'm concerned, seems compliant to me. Will have to find a good place to mount it on the Phantom 4 without interfering with other internals like the transceiver or built-in GPS. My only concern long term is the internal battery might not be replaceable but at this price point, I'm okay with that. As long as Holy Stone is blinking, I'm flying. Well done!

Most economical Remote ID broadcast module to date
Ever since the announcement of Remote ID and the implementation of it, I have been keeping tabs on any (affordable) available broadcast module for my Autel EVO 2 V1 that Autel refused to make compliant via firmware update. The FAA seemed to think that companies wouldn't capitalize on the need for add on broadcast modules and portrayed that they would be affordable for all well under $100. They were wrong as greed dictates a business' angle of sales. All Remote ID broadcast modules I was finding (which were only a few) were going anywhere from $150 - $329. With the fast approaching March 16th 2024 deadline, I weighed my options of biting the bullet on an expensive add on option or moving on to an upgraded model with standard Remote ID built in. Low and behold, the other week I did another Google search on Remote ID broadcast modules and this one from Holy Stone popped up... for $89! Seeming too good to be true I did a little digging and visited the FAA Remote ID compliance list. Sure enough this module was indeed listed as compliant. Without further hesitation I submitted my order and waited for it to arrive. The set up for the initial writing of the identity was very fast and easy. The app was easy to find and install on my Android device. Within minutes I had my broadcast module affixed to my EVO 2, Remote ID registered with the FAA, and I was flying in compliance with over 2 months to spare until the deadline. I am very pleased with this module and recommend it to everyone looking for a more affordable compliant device. I hope Holy Stone doesn't give in to greed and keeps their module at this price point.

Holy Stone FAA compliant remote ID (Perfect for compliant rc flying for $35)
The Holy Stone FAA Compliant Remote ID unit is perfect to meet the FAA requirements for flying larger radio control airplane. At 3.5 inches, it fits almost anywhere within the cockpit/battery compartment area and can easily be swapped from aircraft to aircraft without reprogramming. Using the on-line instruction and Youtube videos, programming your information into the until took about 3 minutes. The first time I used this remote ID once programmed and charged, I flew for over three hours using this unit in 4 different aircraft and still had almost 1/2 a charge left. For under $35, this product is perfect to do our part being FAA compliant in our hobby.

Lightweight. Easy setup. Takes a few minutes to find stable GPS.
The product is small and lightweight attaching to my drone easily and securely. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Device connected to phone software immediately, and there were no issues registering the number with the FAA. On the downside, it seems to take a long time to find a GPS signal. The indicator lights are clear about searching versus connected and though Iโve only been using it a couple of weeks. It does seem consistent in taking several minutes to find a GPS signal. Other positive aspects:The RID signal shows up on a scanner clearly once it is transmitting and stays transmitting throughout flight. Charge time is quick and I have yet to need to interrupt the mission because of battery loss. I think I would give this a full five stars but for the fact that it takes so long to find its GPS signals.

Good remote ID module at a very reasonable price
Purchased the Holystone remote ID module for an older > 250g drone that lacks the functionality. Note that along with the drone, the module has to be registered with the FAA in the US. Downloaded the Android version of the Drone Go2 app to configure the module, no issues. One thing I learned (and that Holystone customer support didn't catch), was that on Android location permission must not only be granted to the app but location needs to be enabled (I normally leave location off in a likely-futile effort to minimize tracking by Big Tech). Initially I had granted the permission but NOT enabled location and the Drone Go2 app couldn't find and connect to the module. Attached the module using the provided Velcro adhesive strips. Was worried that they wouldn't hold and the module would depart the drone, but so far in about a 1/2-hour of flying it has stayed in place. Tested and tracked the drone and module with the OpenDroneID app, worked fine. There are much more expensive remote ID modules available, but the Holystone seems to work well and is very reasonably priced.

FAA approved and light
Easy to set up and register with the FAA. It's small and lightweight so my 3.6" quad doesn't even feel it. Battery lasts all day.

BLE Connection Attempt Kills Transmissions
I am an RF design engineer. I have a full RF design laboratory and have designed BLE devices. I received the RID unit this morning and immediately charged the battery until it showed full. I then downloaded the Drone Go2 app and connected to the RID. It said that a firmware update was needed so I allowed that. It appeared to be successful and the app told me to reset the RID, which I did. On the next connection to the app it said that a firmware update was needed, etc. And again... So it seemed to be in a continuous "update needed" loop so the next time I selected "cancel". It then allowed me to enter my setup information and told me to reset the unit. After doing that I go the expected fast blink followed a few seconds later by a slowly blinking green LED. I then tried to reconnect with the Drone 2Go app with no success -- no response at all. As a BLE engineer I have several BLE diagnostic apps on my phone. Anyone can load them off of the Apple app store for free - search for Nordic Semiconductor, Renasas Semiconductor, of Cypress Semiconductor. At any rate running any one of these apps shows the presence of the RID device BUT here is where there is a major problem: Trying to connect to the RID device using any of these free apps SHUTS THE RID OFF!!!! Both LEDs turn off and the broadcast ceases. I inspected the over-the-air signal using a spectrum analyzer and there was NO output after a simple BLE connection attempt. This is a pretty major firmware problem, to say the least.

comes with a preset remote id which i have not been able to change
i have the original mavic which dji no longer serve mine is well looked after and i refuse to replace it until its beyond use i was forced to buy this add on to comply with new laws on the plus side i can fly another drone using my credentials just by attaching this for me there was one flaw i have a designated registered remote id and have not figured out to change the integrated one it comes supplied with for the actual one im suppose to use the only option i could add was my operator id ive not had to register my operator id against the remote id on this and have not had the chance to understand how this new system works ive not flown in a year and was just brushing up before a flight and had to panic buy and adjust so i could use it a few days after my understanding is the remote id has to be registered to you and is generated by the fcaa i think it was i will update this when i figure out if its correct or useable etc as i dont have the tools to access the tag i have no clue wether it works how good the range is etc but came with plenty of options to attach havnt really tested battery life yet either
