This 40 Micron Spin Down Sediment Filter by BriskSpring is the highest quality spin down filter that I have ever used. I ordered this to replace an existing filter on the front end of my home water system. The feature that allows you to scrape the stainless steel mesh without disassembling or turning the main water supply off is a huge savings in terms of time and effort. Just open the bottom valve and turn the base and voila, the mesh is wiped clean and the residue is instantly flushed down the drain.It turns out that the housing assemble is exactly the same size of my original spin down filter, so it was an easy swap out from the old unit to the far-and-away-better new unit!The quality and superior engineering of the overall filter unit and especially the scraping mechanism makes this a no-brainer decision to upgrade from the "non-scraping" model to this wonderful work of plumbing art.Amazingly, it's about the same price as standard (i.e. without the "scrape" feature) spin down filters at the big box stores, so why would you buy a standard when you can get the "Cadillac" of filters for the same basic price?I installed this in my home and have decided to purchase additional units for each of my rental properties.

Leaks and drips around the large nut connection. No matter even using different types of plumber's putty and Teflon tape. The large nut configuration has different threads than where it is supposed to be screwed on by what the picture and directions state....Try and figure that out? Does it work? Yes, it does if you don't mind drips. would I buy another from this brand? NO! Absolutely not because of the leaks and their own hardware doesn't even fit together like their picture and instructions.

I was pleasantly surprised that this is a heavier duty than I was anticipating. I've never use this specific brand but it seems to be well-built. It has a feature where it can scrape the filter without disassembling, which is great. It came with lots of hardware and instructions. It was packed very well and looks like it came from a reputable manufacturer. These can be very helpful for water that is full of sediment before they clog up your finer filters.I've also had luck using this in water supplies that have a sulfur smell caused by too much iron. These can help aerate the water which can help reduce that egg smell.I highly recommend for the price. I'm not sure where I would find spare filters for this particular brand.
