Asus CP100PA 10.1-Inch Chromebook (Rockchip RK3288, 4 GB RAM, 16 GB Memory, Integrated Graphics, Google Chrome)

Before I start, I need to be clear - I am no expert. I love gadgets, and I've been looking for the perfect portable laptop for quite some time. My needs are pretty simple - I need to be able to play music, create and edit documents and record audio as I'm a music teacher. This wonderful little device is perfectly suited to my needs. In terms of looks and build quality, this has a similar appeal to a Macbook Air. It's incredibly thin and light, with an aluminium body which makes it look an awful lot more expensive than it is. The keyboard is also similar in looks to an apple, it has good response and although smaller than standard it's fine for me as I'm small anyway. It took me a little bit of playing around to work out how to use everything properly, and to install Google Play, but it was worth the effort. This is a different OS than a Mac or usual PC laptop, but honestly if you know how to work a phone and tablet this is easy to figure out. Although there's a lot of beef about Chromebooks only working when connected to the internet, I have already created a document in Google Docs when offline, and if you have your films, music etc downloaded onto a micro SD or USB external, you'll have nothing to worry about. Obviously, you wouldn't be able to stream and I'm working on Amazon Prime and downloading to the device... not sure that's possible yet. The icing on the cake is the brilliant range of ways you can use the Chromebook, as tent, tablet, stand or laptop mode. It could have been designed for me, honestly, and it's cheaper than most decent tablets out there whilst giving you the versatility of a keyboard. For a writer, it is a fantastic tool. I'm looking forward to getting more proficient, and the iPad has been totally relegated!

This is AMAZING!!! I have, for years, used a different brand small computer which I loved but had sooo much trouble getting on the internet. My hubby has had a larger chromebook for some time and kept on to me about how brilliant it is. My old one was a touch screen so I resisted and....you know what you know and you love what you know BUT hubby got this one for me for Christmas. OMG I absolutely love it!! It has a touchscreen!!! I can change internet pages quickly; I can access my emails. I can use amazon videos ... the list is endless. There are a couple of things that I have had to get used to......the keyboard doesn't light up like other brands which is a bit tricky (in bed in the dark!) but you only have to tilt the screen slightly towards the keyboard and there is more than enough light - and its a proper keyboard!!.... also I don't think you can right click to copy text etc (unless i haven't found it yet!) but have learned the (new) skill of [ctrl c for copy] and [ctrl v for paste]. I know that these are common shortcuts but I had forgotten them!! The only other (slight) difficulty is that it doesn't have microsoft word etc BUT I have found out that I would have to pay for that after a free year on my old computer and I can use an 'on-line' version through my employer anyway, so not a problem. In summary..I am totally convinced - best small (does everything and with a touch screen) computer ever....only ssshhhhh, don't tell my hubby - he never shuts up about how brilliant he is at presents anyway (its only taken him 20+ years!!!)

I've used this Chromebook daily for over a year now and I really like it. It's been well worth buying it for me as I have got many hours out of it. The device isn't the quickest Chromebook out there but can handle general internet browsing well. The physical quality is really nice and the touchscreen is a nice addition. The micro SD card slot is also a nice feature. I'm rating it 3 stars because after a few months my device started acting faulty as the device would shut down when the battery reached 50%. ASUS handled this well as they repaired it without too much hassle. However, when I did receive it back, a couple of the keys were a bit spongey (they didn't jump up as quickly) but after a bit of use they seem to be working again okay.

2 weeks in and delighted with this device. Bought as a lightweight / travel laptop solution, worried I would find limitations with just Chrome OS but able to set up VPN, use wifi mouse, connect wirelessly to printer etc. like any PC laptop and makes you realize just how much you only do in a browser these days. I have a much more powerful ASUS laptop that has been a good friend for several years and glad I stuck with them here. It does have fat bezels, but really not a big distraction or limitation. Touchscreen & tablet mode are cool when you need them and with the metal body it really is a beautifully presented device for the price point. Does seem to be some battery draw when you close the lid, but the shutdown / startup via the side button is super fast so just a habit you need to get into.

I have just unpacked this product and started to set it up, so bear in mind this is a first impression! This Asus is literally sat on my desk side by side with my new Macbook Pro Retina 13 inch. So I can compare the 2. First thing is the build quality is absolutely excellent, its solid as a rock and beautifully polished. The keys are well proportioned and sturdy, the keyboard flips all the way round to give you an ipad experience, the hinge is strong, firm, and build to last. the fact build quality wise its better than my Macbook! But I've had to deduct 1 star because of the screen. The glare is unbelievable, I could almost shave it front of (when not in use) don't even think of using this outside in the sun. The bezel is very thick so the screen suffers size wise. And the maximum brightness is far less than the Macbook, but thats actually good if you need it to be optimised for battery life. Now, those points are minor niggles! The trackpad is okay, not as delicate as a Mac trackpad, you have to really push down to get the left or right click, but it's in the same ballpark as the Mac so no problem there. At this price point you are getting far more quality than you are rightfully paying for.

Fantastic piece of kit. I was using a macbook air before buying this product, so my standards were high. I can honestly say I don't miss the macbook one bit. I was concerned before I purchased that I may not be able to print but since my printer was HP and recently bought, no problem. This product is perfect folks who like to browse internet and not do heavy processing work on the computer. I find it very useful that you can use it as a regular small laptop and then flip the keyboard and it becomes a touchscreen tablet. The WIFI is as good as macbook, its lighter than the macbook and it has 2 full size usb ports. All of this for 3 times less than a macbook. IF you have an andriod TV you can cast directly to the screen without connecting cables. The only downside for me vs macbook is that the battery only lasts about 5/6 hours. Overall I recommend this product as a budget alternative to macbook if you are not needing a laptop for graphics or gaming.

Asus C100 Flip, this is my third chromebook device and the best so far. The audio through headphones is better than the Acer R11 (but not as loud on speakers) and my usb speakers work with it. When I first plugged in and signed it it said "Chrome was not shutdown properly" and it reboots before you can do anything, I have had this message on my earlier chromebook and found I needed to switch off my router then sign in and do a powerwash switch router on and update. The build is beautiful and I can use it as a tablet with no problem of weight. The keyboard and trackpad are decent as is the touch screen, only had it glitch once after using the play store but a reboot solves that. I use an Android app "Beat" to play .ogg music files on my cloud and the stock music player for "flac" music on the micro sd card. The battery just seems to go on and on, overall this really is an excellent machine and the nearest thing to a Chrome tablet.

Wish now I'd saved money by buying this instead of my laptop. It is an outstanding little laptop - the battery is long lasting, it charges quickly, the keyboard is easy to use, it's fuss and frills free. It's quite astonishingly good quality screen and speakers are what sets it apart though. The screen is crystal clear - even with sticky finger prints on it - and very clever. It's flippable nature means you can use it like a little TV, a tablet or a laptop, all without losing quality. The speakers are better than my laptop. Even though they're on the bottom, they boom sound out like there's no tomorrow, no crackling, no crunchy bass lines. I've been extremely impressed. Only downside is that certain apps won't qork on it, like some popular games. However this is a small price to pay for all the features and capabilities it does have. Very definitely outstanding value for money.

Ich habe diese Produkte auf Amazon Deutschland gekauft, weil ich die Deutsche Version wollte. Leider habe ich die Englische Version bekommt, obwohl das in der Beschreibung nicht geschrieben war. Das Tastatur Layout ist UK, und das könnte noch gehen. Hauptproblem ist dass der Akkuladen nur das UK Stecker hat, und deswegen es in Deutschland nicht nutzbar ist. Einer Original Akkuladen mit EU stecjer kostet ca. 60€. Alternativ muss ich ein Stecker Adapter nutzen, aber das nacht den Ladegerät sehr groß, überhaupt wenn man er in Reise tragen will. Letzes, hätte ich gewusst dass der Tablett der UK Version war, konnte ich direkt in Amazon UK kaufen, wo er 40€ billiger war.
