I bought these to glaze my pottery with. I have been wanting to paint some Japanese style paintings on my mugs and was looking for some nice brushes to see what size and style I prefer. I really love the pack size and different brush types with the case being a wonderful addition. The value is definitely there with this pack being extremely affordable and appears to be good quality. Excited to see how they work!

these are surprisingly good for the money. the hairs are springy and dont shed too easily, making proper writing and painting with these a ease. and its just so cheap.

Happy with the variety in this set. Ive only used with a disappearing water ink so far but no bristle loss with that.

Do you need the fancy Qing Dynasty inkwell with jade engravings?! No, use a red plastic cup. This set is fine for getting started and learning the different brush types, and even after the brushes have been abused to the point of no return, the bamboo roll-up mat can still be used for other brushes/as a mat to protect your writing surfaces. Even so, the brushes are not that bad, although anyone used to more expensive kits will notice the difference. I use this as a travel kit, so the brushes don't get worn out too much since they're not used too often. I think it's perfect as a gift for someone who is serious about calligraphy but may also travel, or for a beginner or something.

Didn't liked these brushes. It seems poor quality and the hairs fall appart every time I paint...

The smaller brushes were fine... There was a lot of shedding on all the brushes. The Dark bristled large brushes smelled like goat urine. I washed them with soap so many times, as I was seeing that the water was brown-ish yellow, then I finally got a whiff of the water as I was washing them and immediately almost threw up. I threw the brush away and washed my hands with alcohol+dish soap about 8 times in a row. I was very upset by this. The bristles are from farm animals. Make sure to wash like crazy if you buy them.

These are okay. I appreciate the different sized brushes, but there are a lot of loose strands I keep having to pull off while painting. Can’t beat the price though!
