Outstanding Clumping & Absorbency – High-Performance, Low-Waste, Cost-Effective Cat Litter
Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat Ultra Cat Litter exemplifies high performance across multiple key parameters: absorbency, clumping integrity, hygiene maintenance, and cost-efficiency. Formulated from premium-grade medium-grain sodium bentonite, the litter demonstrates rapid liquid absorption, forming structurally stable clumps that prevent fluid dispersion and reduce ammonia-related odour—supporting optimal litter hygiene and ease of cleaning.Absorbency is a standout feature; the granules encapsulate moisture rapidly, resulting in dense clumps that are easily removed without residue. This not only maintains a clean litter bed but significantly limits the need for full litter replacement, enhancing long-term value for money. When paired with automated litter systems such as PETKIT, the efficiency is further amplified—minimising waste, extending refill intervals, and ensuring consistent sensor responsiveness. This compatibility markedly improves functionality for multi-cat or high-traffic households. In terms of texture, the granule size strikes a practical balance—fine enough to ensure feline comfort underfoot, while coarse enough to resist compaction and minimise tracking. The product adheres minimally to the paws and coat, reducing particulate transfer beyond the litter area. While a small amount of dust may be generated during initial pouring, in-use dust levels remain low and non-intrusive, supporting respiratory health and indoor air quality.Behavioural acceptance is exemplary. In the case of a British Shorthair introduced to this litter from initial acclimatisation, consistent use and strong litter box fidelity have been observed—suggesting high palatability and environmental compatibility.Economically, the product provides excellent value, with conservative usage enabled by effective clump isolation and low daily waste output. This positions it as a highly sustainable choice for long-term use, particularly when integrated into automated systems. In conclusion, Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Cat Litter is a functionally advanced, behaviourally compatible, and economically sound product. Its superior absorbency, low-tracking composition, and high compatibility with modern litter systems render it an outstanding solution for feline hygiene management.

This Litter is a MIRACLE Worker!!!
For the past two years since I brought my female kitten home, she has refused to use her litter box. I originally thought it might be the litter so tried just about everything you can possibly try. I took her to the vet who was convinced it must be an aversion to her litter tray due to her constant diarrhea however after solving her tummy troubles -she still kept on defecating outside of her litter box (sometimes in the lounge much to my horror). I even enlisted the help of a cat-psychologist who suggested I use seven(!) litter trays to ensure there was no where left for her to go on the bathroom floor. I honestly was at my wits end as she's such a lovely cat but picking up poop isn't fun for anyone.I decided there must be some sort of product to help lure her into her tray and that's when I finally found Dr Elsey's attracting litter. I immediately ordered some and within hours of putting it out, my cat finally used her litter tray!! A miracle worker is what I call this stuff. I can't recommend it enough. My other male cat has even decided to bin his trays (filled with Catsan Natural Clumping) and started using Dr Elsey's.Unlike some, I haven't found it dusty at all. The tracking is much better than anything else I've used (my cats are long-haired) and it clumps so well! I haven't had any issues with it sticking at all as I use a very sturdy pooper scooper (BasicForm Metal Cat Litter Scoop, also from Amazon) which is very durable.Honestly, even if it did create a mess, the fact is my cat actually uses it so I don't care how troublesome it might have been, but I actually smile now when I go to clean the trays as it's so easy! It's been over a week now and I'm over the moon. Who knew such a small thing could radically change my world?!For anyone with a cat who avoids their litter box - this product is definitely worth the money, just get it already!

No smell, soft to paws!
Great litter, no smell, my cat loves it because it’s softer to his paws than the big lumps of other brands. Good for automatic cat litters. It’s the only one I use.

Not as good but a good Substitute for.....
Well I had consultation with my two cats, they tell me its OK but Tigerino Canadian clay is much smoother and has better clamping.Still, if they're out of supply on Tigerino, this is a good alternative.

This is THE best cat litter ever
This is THE best cat litter ever, bar none!I have owned male cats for over 20 years and had never had an issue with a cat peeing indoors until my female cat had kittens and we decided to keep the male one. He was a NIGHTMARE and kept peeing repeatedly in 2 areas, he was literally going there every day and I tried everything on the market to clean the area, then I read an article about changing the cat litter. Again, I tried every brand I coud find and it made no difference at all....I really was at the end of my tether until I saw a you tube video from someone with the same problem recommending Dr Elsey's.OK it is more expensive than your average bag of litter but I was prepared to try anything so I bought a bag, that was 2 weeks ago and the kitten hasn't peed indoors since we changed! I used the whole bag in one go so it was nice and deep and scoop out the 'balls' of urine twice a day as recommended. We have not needed to add or change the litter at all yet - there is no smell, no dust and virtually no mess, it's FANTASTIC.I cannot believe how good this stuff is and would recommend it to anyone. The only very minor drawback is that the cat's can track it a bit, I solved this by laying a small towel in front of the tray to catch any bits stuck in their feet as they exit the tray.

Disappointed
This had good reviews which is why I ordered it, but I was disappointed. Positive - practically dust free and it clumped most of the time. Unfortunately it didn’t always clump and when wet it stuck to the bottom of the litter tray like concrete. It was really heavy and overpriced.

Best so far
Near impossible to find a litter with very little dust & odour control. This does an excellent job on both. The downside is it 9nly comes in small packets so you have to reorder fairly soon after your first purchase or buy several packets at once.

A nightmare to clean up, would not recommend
So clumpy it turned into clay and stuck to the bottom of the litter tray and when the kitty walked out with it on her feet, it left clay streaks on the floor that have taken multiple mops to get off. Ended up throwing out half of the bag after a couple weeks of giving it a shot. Would not recommend!

The Best by Far Litter I've Ever Used
I've had cats all my life (lots of years) and thus, been dealing with cat litter, ... all my life. And for those of you who know, cat litter matters. You clean it every day, sometimes more than once a day and all you want is for the cats to be happy to use it, and for it to be easy to clean. And that has become a problem with most litters it seems these days. I was always a Costco Litter guy, but they've changed suppliers now so often that you never know what you'll be getting and let's be honest, the quality has been sliding backwards now for years. So this January I took it upon myself to search for a new and better (hopefully "best") cat litter. Tried all the big brands, everything sucked. Tried the one that Google told me was rated "the best" and "easiest to clean", the super light-weight one, you know which one I mean. It was TERRIBLE!!! But I finally found a review for Dr. Elseys so I bought a bag. Yep, a little more expensive, but WOW!!! It is AWESOME!!! Hard clumps? Absolutely!! Does it track? No more than any of the others and substantially less than that one super light-weight brand. I was wiping that stuff off my walls. But this Dr. Elseys has made me (and my 4 cats) SO happy, I just had to come and write about it. Yup, I get "that" excited about cat litter. And it's nice to be able to write a positive review. Whoever made Dr. Elseys'? Well, ... good job!!! My cats thank you!

Dr Elseys litter is double the price and outright bad! Use PETAHOLIC that's the best.
After having used brand like this one Dr Elseys, Amazons Basic, Pet Pattern, Petaholic and others after 2 years of experimenting with two Persian cats I found PRTAHOLIC ACTIVE CARBON LITTER to be the best. Prtaholic stays dry throughout and lasts for months with only small add ons.I compared this Dr Elseys side by side in a separate box for months with Petaholic and this did not perform well. It used to get very sticky and Difficult to scoop, used to get stuck just like wet mud on the roads, absorption power is not that good either, I did not find active carbon in this hence prtaholic did a better job than all of the other brands at keeping the smell in check.Dr Elseys litter is double the price and outright bad. From my experience use Petaholic or atleast try once so that you may see the difference yourself.

Best Cat Litter I’ve Ever Used!
Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Cat Litter is hands down the best litter I’ve ever used for my cats. The 8.16 kg bag is not only great value but also lasts a long time due to its incredible efficiency. Here’s why I love it:• Excellent Clumping: The clumping ability is outstanding. It forms solid clumps that are easy to scoop, leaving the rest of the litter clean and fresh.• Low Dust: Unlike other litters, it truly lives up to its “low dust” claim. No more clouds of dust when pouring or scooping, which is better for my cats and me.• Superior Odor Control: It neutralizes odors exceptionally well. Even with multiple cats, my home stays fresh and odor-free.• Cat-Approved Texture: My cats took to it immediately. They seem comfortable using it, which makes the transition effortless.Overall, this litter has exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s worth every penny for the quality and peace of mind it provides. Highly recommended for any cat owner looking for a hassle-free, high-performance cat litter!

I settled on this after a few years trying different litters
I wanted to give a very detailed review because I tried using reviews to choose litter, but it was very hard to do because often the reviews vary wildly in describing the same qualities of the same litter. I’ll start by saying I’ve tried Fresh Step, Tidy Cats, Arm & Hammer, Pretty Litter, and various other silicone litters before settling on this one. I have one short haired, older female kitty who has one litter box.For a long time, I used Arm & Hammer clump and seal litter. I didn’t hate it, but felt like it didn’t clump as well as it could and I wanted to try something else. So I switched to Pretty Litter for a while because I liked the color changing aspect. However, I started to notice that it wasn’t lasting as long as it was supposed to and I didn’t want to keep paying that much for something that wasn’t doing what it was supposed to. I liked the no-clump aspect, but it seemed to irritate my kitty’s toes. She was constantly picking stuff off the hair on her feet (and she doesn’t have long hair at all) and I felt like it tracked a lot. I then tried a few different silicone litters, but the more affordable ones were too hard to find regularly (ie often out of stock). So after all that experimentation, I had a few qualities I was looking for:- low dust- low tracking (I live in a very small apartment where there aren’t many steps between the litter box and the couch or the bed)- low odor- hopefully non-clumpingI ended up compromising on the non-clumping part, because this litter meets my other wish list items so well.- Dust: I haven’t tried some of the “natural” litters like the ones made from corn, wheat, etc. so I can’t speak for those. But otherwise I have used many of the popular litters and I have concluded that there probably isn’t a 100% dust free litter. I think it’s just the nature of such a product. However, this has less dust than any other litter I can think of and I love that.- Tracking: again, not sure if there exists a 100% no track litter. But in my experience, this tracks the least. I did notice after I was sick for a couple weeks (still scooping ofc but not as worried about cleaning up the litter on the floor) it did start to get a little spread out and ground into the carpet. But as long as I was vacuuming regularly I barely noticed any tracking.- Odor: this and the low tracking were probably the main selling points for me. I’ve honestly forgotten to scoop the box a couple times because I. NEVER. SMELL IT! Even when scooping it, it hardly smells. Only towards the end of its life cycle does it tend to stink much, but again, that’s only when scooping. And I use the scent free one! I hate the smell of scented cat litter (it gets too strong for me and in my head it’s a “cover up” smell, like spraying perfume on a dirty shirt or pants lol) I think this is the best quality of this litter. If odor is your sticking point, I’d definitely recommend trying this.- Clumping: as I said above, this was what I compromised on. **This IS a clumping litter.** But it clumps EXTREMELY well. Honestly sometimes it’s a bit like scooping a rock. If it’s a larger clump sometimes I have to put in some effort to break it in half. So because of that and how great the other qualities are, I was fine with switching back to a clumping litter. I have a Litter Genie so it’s not too much of an inconvenience. Actually, my only (very minor) complaint would be that the clumps get too heavy to fill the Litter Genie bag as full as I’d like, but it doesn’t bother me that much.- Price: I haven’t sat down and figured out how this one compares to the others in terms of price, but it’s at least comparable and I think very reasonable for the quality of what you get. The 18lb bag is a little more than enough to fill up the litter box, and has been lasting about a month. So glad I decided to try Dr. Elsey’s! I hope this review is helpful to anyone else shopping around for litter like I was.
