This has a nice smell, but was not helpful to reduce shaving sensibility.

Lets start with the dispenser bottle which is huge and looks a feat of engineering, besides being pretty attractive in the gold. The pump action is easy and there's a hard plastic 'shield' on the shoulder of the bottle top, which I guess helps prevent damge in transit and leaks if the bottle is accidentally dropped. Bear in mind the size, because that may be a consideration for storage purposes if your bathroom space is limited, so the 500ml size might be preferable. In environmental terms you can argue that the plasic bottle is unaccepable- there's no information provided on the bottle itself or in the listing. One would assume only the clear plastic bottle can be recycled, as the shield and pump parts are hard plastic. However, there is potential to re-use the bottle if you can source a bulk refill shaving gel - though I plan to keep it for a liquid soap dispenser at my allotment shed in due course. Similarly it could be used in your man cave or workshop. As for the contents, the gel is quite thick and lightly scented. It feels nice on the skin and I found my razor glides smoothly and comfortably whilst shaving. That does also depend though on both your technique and how sharp the razor is in the first place. Since i'm more used to using a shaving stick and brush perhaps i've tended to use the gel to excess, but evenso it's going to last for ages. You can argue the advantages of clear gel v foam. On the one hand you can clearly see where you've shaved (or missed) with the gel, and with foam it's perhaps more obvious to view your progress based on the visble foam area left. All down to personal preference I guess, but there's plenty of time to make up your mind over a long term trial given the huge amount of gel in the bottle. In terms of VFM the 1000 ml bottle is currently priced at £12.99 and that to me seems pretty good.
