There are very few options for dog gates for wider areas. I had been using a wood-slat swing-out gate in my hallway for years - long history of pinched fingers from the fastener, and ultimately the dog broke one of the slats, so it was time for a new one. Finding one wide enough for the hallway that was also easy for family and guests to use was more challenging than I thought it would be, but this gate is a winner.It stands 28 inches tall, so may be jumpable for a young agile dog, but the mechanics of the gate are neat - there are four angle adjusters at the top - one on each side, and two more where the panels join. This gives a ton of flexibility in terms of deciding how to format it, and once you have decided, you tighten the angle adjusters and it stays solid, but you can move them later if needed.I struggled a little with the installation as it wasn't clear that the angle adjusters could be removed during the process to make it easier to screw the top fasteners to the wall. But once that was clear, it was a relatively simple process.The middle gate is a breeze to open and close with one hand, so it's easy to walk through with dogs, bags, kids, etc. There's a little cat gate at the bottom, although I imagine that many cats could simply jump over the top.

The media could not be loaded.  We purchased this gate after our parents purchased the gate at their house for the kids. This gate is awesome because it doesn’t have to fit in between a certain tight space. It doesn’t have to fit on or below the step. The only downside to this is that it takes up more room in your walkways. Super easy to open as an adult. I was able to open the cat door at the bottom with my non-dominant hand.

This gate looks nice in our home. It is the 2nd one we have bought. The first one lasted 7 years before our 125 pound German Shepherd destroyed it. It is well-made. The smaller cat gate is nice as well, although no longer needed here.

We were looking for a gate so our dogs wouldn’t tackle down all our guest, I found this one and loved how elegant it looks, I also loved the little door so my cat could still walk around, it was easy to install and seems to do the job!
